I've never really tried to listen to Weezer. Don't know why, I think I'd like them. OK I'll listen to these 2 EPs and if they're good I'll keep them.

I bought The Arcade Fire and the Drive By Truckers. As I have been listening to AF nonstop, I haven't even listened to the Truckers yet. Anywho...

I've also bought Arcade Fire and just can't stop listening...how I undestand that Ramona.
P.S. By the way, that signature was mine already!

AF still rocks my world. I like the lyrics to the last song. She's got a great voice, too.
Just picked up: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Abbatoir Blues and the Lyre of Orpheus
It's really good. My first NC, and I likes. Mellow, rockin', pianos, guitars, a great "bard", as my dad called him. |

That Nick Cave Cd is wonderful! I love his work since the Birthday Party, and I saw him live a long time ago...

I think its just me, but I haven't been able to properly get into Arcade Fire, despite everyone raving. Am I missing something?

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits, and Oh Inverted World by the Shins. The Shins are pure perfect pop. I was listening to them as I drove my ex-step daughter home from dinner on Wednesday, and as I dropped her off, the 7th song's retro pop and shimmering guitars drilled right into my heart, reminding me in a sad way of what used to be in our family. |

btw, the Futureheads are coming through here in about two months. I probably need to go ahead and check them out before the show or else I'll likely hear them 2 days after the show and kick myself for not going. Did that with th Wrens last year. |

I maxxed out my credit card in the paradise that is Amoeba records, have mercy on me - hot men who know their way around music - I'd be in so much trouble if I had one of those nearby!
Still have to unpack them all but it's all fairly stoner rock based (yes, I'm still in 'that' phase at the moment). One of the highlights though (and I never thought I'd be saying this) was some of Mike Patton's work - both Fantomas, Mr Bungle and his Dillinger Escape Plan stuff. Either my ears have gone mad, but this man is a genius on a Frank level. |

Go to their website for a clip of each song from their album (link at the bottom of this post). You may want to download their full songs from a filesharing program though. You can never tell from clips really.
I would still go to see them though, I doubt very much that you woud regret it. I am seeing them play in a couple of weeks in Manchester with The Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and The Killers. Should be an amazing gig.

I bought "Felt - Stains of a decade", I already had most of the songs in my old discs, but I must surrender to the CDs.

Mike, I'm pretty jealous of that gig, except for it being in Manchester. Its well sold out down here. I love the Killers, and the other bands are pretty interesting as well. Have a good one.

On Friday I bought Van Leer Rose by Loretta Lynn and then promptly left it at my friends house. D'oh.

It's a pretty good record. Not as mindblowing as all the critics said but still solid. I had never heard of Loretta Lynn before, should I check her other records?

The Comas - Conductor
This cd was so good I think I'm gonna start a topic for it. It also is my pick for 'Best of 2004'.

I bought a Belly CD yesterday for £5 (bargain), but I haven't listened to it yet 'cos I had to give it to someone to mind whilst I went to a gig.

No, most of her stuff is rather boring. You might want to check out some of Dolly Parton's bluegrass stuff if you like that kind of music or perhaps some kd lang from when she was country. |
