I havn't heard "Dear Catastrophe Waitress," the last album I have is Story Telling, but what I've heard so far I really like, "Act Of The Apostle" sounds really lovely.

The beginning of "Act Of The Apostle" reminds me of the Zombies' "Time Of The Season."

And to add to the thread, I didn't buy this, but I DID get it as a Valentine's Day present:

Bought last week:
* Roxy Music - Stranded & Country Life. I now have all the RM studio albums, yay. Stranded is quite good and contains one of their best songs ever (Psalm) AND their absolute worst song: A Song About Europe. Unlistenable. Please, english-speaking people, stop singing in French! Unless you're Debbie Harry.
* Antony & the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now. I wish it was a bit longer but it's excellent. Reminds me a lot of Bryan Ferry, which is probably why I like it so much.

Yeah, I probably listened to that song for like a day straight. Terrific. I love the builds/teases. <ahem>

therewererumors, have you heard Elvis Costello's live version, a bonus track on Goodbye Cruel World.
Also, on Almost Blue, he does an Ok cover of "Hot Burrito #1" which he changed to "I'm Your Toy", but a very good version of "How Much I Lied"- love that song.
(By the way, my favorite version of "H B#1" is a B-side on belly's Gepetto EP and on their "Best of".

The Album Leaf - In A Safe Place

This ones been on my Amazon 'to buy' list for ages, and every time I buy something from Amazon it says 'price reduced a little'. This last time though, it was reduced right down so I thought I might as well go mad. I'm just listening now, it's pretty nice.

Me too - I'm so looking forward to it.
I haven't heard the mp3's, I only have the Friend Of The Night single, which is ace. However, I heard some of the tracks live, not that I want to rub it in...

Isaac - what was the name of the guy we saw supporting Tanya Donnelly?

Haha, thanks for that rendition Jimmy. I only have a very basic knowledge of Mr. Costello's work but I'd really like to hear his version of HB #1 and How Much I Lied. HB #1 and HB #2 are two of my favorite Gram songs. I didn't know Belly did a version of HB #1 as well, that's totally brilliant, I have to pick up their best of. I really need to hear John Doe's version of HB #2 (I think it's 2 ) as well. Cheers for those nuggets of information. I have another version of Sing Me Back Home (I only found out recently it's a Merle Haggard cover) with I think is much better then the one on Sleepless Night.

Finally bought FB&TC's self-titled today. I've already listened to 'All my Ghosts' 21 times. Every time the song finishes I just feel the need to put it back on. It's Amazing!

Got Cult of Ray and Devil's Workshop yesterday. Surely Cult of Ray is one of Frank's best albums! Devil's Workshop seems pretty average so far. Maybe it'll take a bit more time.

Pixiestu, Velvety, Out of State, His Kingly Cave, Bartholomew, Heloise and Whiskey in Your Shoes are great songs and the album as a whole is a grower, keep listening, it's worth it ;). And of course Cult of Ray is excellant.

Pretty good, not as bizzare and weird as I thought it would be.

Wolmother (ST)

An australian power trio, playing a weird hard rock, like The Datsuns but with a little White Stripe touch. Strange titles (White Unicorn, Witchcraft, Tales from the forest of Gnome), but don't be fooled, I saw them live, they're no way follower of Darkness. They really rock.

Two Gallants - What the toll tells

I had the chance to see them opening for the Decemberists in November and I saw them opening again for Wolfmother. They're from San Francisco, it's a heavy drummer and a country/folk guitar and singer with a punk feeling. Plays a lot of picking, some harmonica, great lyrics, good songs. It has excellent reviews, if you don't believe me.

My Morning Jacket - Z

Strange Cd. I like it a lot. Sometimes it sounds like Bran Van 3000, sometimes like The Police, or Grandaddy but it stays coherent.
