Stop - Jane's Addiction, Ritual de lo Habitual Wait a Minute - JSBX, Acme Oh Yeah - Mingus, Oh Yeah Whatever the first song on Radiohead's Amnesiac is called. Taxman - Beatles, Revolver
--
Moving from the clown to the jester will mean moving from similar to same, from alike to identical, from comparable to analogous. Though applied differently, the colours used on one can be used on another, and a couple of changes of costume will rapidly transform the jester into a clown and the clown into a jester. Strictly speaking, they almost duplicate each other as regards clothes and function, the only difference between them, from a social point of view, is that clowns do not usually visit the palaces of kings. |

I can't believe I forgot Neil Young "Out on the Weekend" from Harvest. That would probably knock off "Mommy, What's a Funkadelic?", but I'll stick to my original list. I don't want to keep revising it like Rob (John Cusack) did in one of the outtakes from High Fidelity.

Without repeating Owen's Stop by Jane's Addiction,
Magnificent Seven - The Clash (Sandinista!) "Ring, Ring 7am"
Holidays in the Sun - The Sex Pistols (Never Mind The Bollocks) Because it sounds like an army of punk rockers are coming to kick your ass.
Good Times, Bad Times - Led Zepplin (Led Zepplin) I remember the first time a friend put this on for me to listen to, what a revelation. "But when I whispered in her ear, I lost another friend"
Skunk - Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (Now I Got Worry) A wall of sound Phil Spector would kill for.
Stupid Songs - Dayglo Abortions (Feed us a Fetus) Replaces Aces High by Iron Maiden..."Get my insight from watching Spiderman" |

I think Frank Black and David Bowie are the best ones for choosing 1st song on their albums. Consider these:
Space Oddity Width Of A Circle Changes Five Years Station To Station Speed Of Life (how could I forget that one in my top 5?) It's No Game
and
Bone Machine Debaser Cecilia Ann Trompe Le Monde Los Angeles Pong/Thalassocracy (how come nobody mentioned this?) The Marsist All My Ghosts Bad Harmony Nadine

I used to write rock critics in my school's newspaper, and I wrote a paper about Idiology, saying it was one of the smartest records ever etc. I am pretty sure noone from my school listened to it, though.
