Hey guys,
I'm off to DC for several days on business, from May 31st to June 6. Any suggestions for restaurants, bars etc.? Looks like my Friday night will be free. It's my first time there. I'd love to find a Frank Black/Pixies karaoke club. ;-)

Not sure you'd find such a karaoke club in DC...maybe elsewhere :)
But, 9:30 Club sometimes has decent live music IMO.
There are a couple of brewpubs worth going to, if you wanna...
John Harvard's (I think Pennsylvania Ave...been awhile since I have gone)
Capitol City, within a couple of blocks of the Capitol.
I'd say take in the Caps in the Stanley Cup finals that week, but...yeah.

Kabob Palace in Arlington. And right next door is a strip club. And it's in a strip mall.
Just kidding of course, but I do love Kabob Palace.

PS - I really do like Kabob Palace, but there about 1000 great things to do in DC. Please put Kabob Palace low on the list, unless you're staying in a hotel in Arlington or something.

I'm kidding about making it a priority to go to Kabob Palace unless it's like your 10th trip to DC.
There really is a strip club in the strip mall that hosts Kabob Palace. I'm not kidding about that. It might even be called the "Bada Bing" or something similar if I recall. I didn't frequent the joint personally.

Well, although I do love kebabs once in a while and I do mall shopping occasionnaly, I haven't been to strip clubs in ages and I wonder how special the strippers in DC are.
Seriously though, a nice brewpub sounds interesting.
My hotel is right by the convention center.

I'd say very special. Considering their client pool, they must be well paid to keep their mouths shut ;)

Good suds! I've been to the one in Arlington, which is just on the border of DC/Virginia. I'm not sure where the convention center is, but it seems like most visitors are based in Arlington or Crystal City, so it's a good bet you're close by. Food isn't super cheap, but it was decent if I recall. But the beers are very good.
