Oh my god are they good. I defy you not to smile throughout that gig.

I bought three Groop Dogdrill albums today for a grand total of £5 Simon - they'd better be good or I'll kick your lily butt.

I went to see The Raveonettes on Sunday, they were excellent. They have beefed up their sound, taken on more band members (live at least, Sharon Foo now plays guitar and sings, bass has been passed to someone else), and written some fantastic new songs (ones that don't actually sound like Jesus And The Mary Chain). Can't wait for their new album. I must mention too that Sharon Foo is just a goddess up there in stage.

On Monday I went to see Le Tigre and I was dissapointed. I expected a lot 'cos I love their last two albums. They played a poor set IMO, missing off a lot of their better songs. The crowd (more teenage lesbians than I have ever seen in my live -and that includes on the net) LOVED them. It was the first time they had ever played Manchester and the crowd just lapped them up. To be fair though, I think many of them were there more for the message they give, and I understand that, but for me it was always gonna be about the music, and they played a lot of their worst stuff sadly.

I felt so old and straight though ; )

i saw them there Dios Malos last week. my fave LA band of the moment. they're like a mix of Brian Wilson, Grandaddy and early Beck. looking forward to the new album. i think these guys are super talented.. they're just unpolished.

I am going to see And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead tonight. I saw them at Reading festival in 2002 and they were fantastic. They smashed their instruments up after it too. Not enough bands do that now for my liking. I hope they do it tonight.

tonight i'm going to see The Dickies, Fear and DI with a friend. i'm not even really that interested in going, since i'm not an angry teen anymore.

but maybe there'll be some cute angry girls there

floop your comment cracks me up.... but the dickies they weren't angry or I am I smoking crack? Anyway that sounds like a very cool and major show.

Recently I went to Modest Mouse... it rocked. Interpol, too-- it ruled. :)

Don't make fun but I am seeing Garbage in a month... and if we get our act together... I will see U2, another band I was forbidden to see as a youth for some mysterious reason. :)

maybe not so much The Dickies, but Fear, yes. as much as i was into punk growing up, i never got into either of those bands, but i have heard them. and i've heard my share of DI seeing as they were an Orange County band (born and raised in the OC baby!)

Last night's gig (And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead) was one of the finest I have been to in a long time. Good to see a band genuinely passionate about playing live. Two drummers too. Cool as fuck.

Hurry Steve, they won't last too long now. The headliners for the other stages are announced at 7:15. I hope to god that none of my favourite bands are set to play when the Pixies are. There will only be one winner there for me.

I think the remainder of that first batch will be gone this week for sure. You could just wait for the second batch but you run a risk then I think bearing in mind that V and T In The Park both sold out in record time this year (by some way too - they absolutely smashed their previous records).

Red Sparowe last night - started off beautifully and ended in spiralling heaviness, beautiful beatiful music. In the tiniest venue I've been in a long time - fabulous sound PLUS the bass guitarist was a hotter version of Jared Leto

I just got back from a Jonathan Richman concert. I had no idea he was here until this afternoon when I saw the poster. So with the lack of anything better to do and after a bad day I decided to go. I have to say I quite enjoyed it. It was an acoustic guitar plus drums set. It was a tiny venue and only about half full but people were smiling and it was all good. And the very first song they put on after the show was Velouria.

I also noticed Mike Watt is playing there in a couple of weeks. Is he worth seeing? Any advice?

Alabama Thunderpussy - memorable for all the wrong reasons. The lump on my head has only just subsided (ego stilll very much bruised).

BUT - Clutch (x3! at the very least) in May, Death From Above 1979 at the Cockpit, Mastodon in July and ISIS & Jesu later this month.

The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.

I just booked 9 tickets for Interpol at Manchester Apollo on Friday 9th July. Can't wait. I hope they are as good as last December, when they were the best ever after the Pixies.

50 Foot Wave @ Carling Academy at Islington tomorrow.

It been a real crap week in the office so I think some shouty music really is in order. Don't let me down Kristin!

Did you have a good time bishk? I was supposed to go, but I couldn't make it. I saw them last year and they were awesome.

Um, saw some bands on Thursday night, but not of any name. They were quite good though: I'm going to say watch out for the Cartwheel Club and Commander Swift, and if they get big I can brag.

It was a phenomenal show Cheeseman, the band were on top form. Although they are all quite clearly amazing musicians I just have point out how blown away I was by Rob Ahlers drumming. He made it seem so effortless with a big grin on his face throughout the entire show and even gave a very short drum solo when i requested it, although he was just messing about. Its truly great when a band actually reacts to the audience, it really makes the show stick in your mind.

The entire band seemed to be having a great time and I think thats what really made it for me. I was smiling all the way on my two hour train journey home.

The support band 'Bender' however were truly awful. They became a running a joke during 50 Foot waves set with Bernards 'ode to Bender' Art rock bass solo :D

Its safe to say that I'm going to use every opportunity to see them again in the future.

ISIS - what an utterly sublime show - I was not expecting to love it this much.Tiny venue, near perfect sound and dare I say it a vocalist with a body unlike any I've seen in a loooong time.

I actually can't believe what I've just seen and heard.

I saw Idlewild last night and they were bloody fantastic. I was suprised how many older and harder songs they played, but very pleased that they did. That's the first time I have ever seen them but it certainly won't be the last. Very very impressed.
