That's too bad. It would be cool to see them play acoustic. I saw a regular Cracker concert. It was out doors and free and very cool. Camper van was last fall I think. |

I met a lad at a party on Friday night and his band Polytechnic are supporting The Breeders so I am gonna go and check them out supporting The Longcut next Tuesday. Gonna try for backstage passes at The Breeders and stalk Kim.
I also have The Go! Team to look forward to again next year.
This month is a busy one. As well as The Longcut next Tuesday, I also have The White Stripes, Prodigy, The Breeders, Sons & Daughters as well as an unsigned night.
Early december I see my beloved New Pronographers and 80's Matchbox.
I saw Mylo on Saturday night and that was brilliant again. So were all the support acts, one of which, 'Who Made Who', I bought the album by at the gig.

Never seen Rollins spoken word but did see him in Dublin in 96 when he still had that bassist that made him funky, they were great, though I was crammed in the front row centre and got showered with Rollinsī sweat a lot. Let me know how it went.

Back in March, I saw David Lowery and Johnny Hickman do an acoustic show. They played both Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker songs. It was really cool.

Broken Social Scene was a very fun show. I've rarely seen a band that large (14 people at one time on stage) play such well blended music. Whoever mixed them did a good job of forging the sound into a cohesive whole. Things I especially liked: lead singer was relaxed and good with the large crowd. Lead guitarist was impressive live: played well and with a ton of energy. The bass player was goofy and "different", maybe in some kind of canadian way :P , but used his humor a few times for the enjoyment of the crowd. Plus, he stepped off the stage when they were finished and mingled with the crowd and was very friendly. Seemed like a nice guy. Furthermore, the female singers were phenomenal-especially "Feist" ?? who was also the opening band, but who I arrived too late to catch. She has a beautiful voice and was mesmerizing with all her energy on stage. Also interesting was that the band Star who I guess share at least one or more members with Broken Social Scene, were opening for Neutral Milk Hotel in Fort Worth on the same night, but after they played they jumped in the car and drove to Dallas so they could hang out at the BSS show, and the lead singer sang one song (Anthems for a 17 year old Girl). It was all in all a very good show. Highly recommend them if you are a fan.

Eh, those three-word bands are all the same.
I saw two bands last night. The first was The Last Car, which is made up of Robin Goldwasser (wife of John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants), Chris Anderson (formerly of Muckafurgason), and Amy Miles (whom I hadn't heard of before this). They put on a good show, with some cool songs and a lot of banter and instrument-switching. The other band was Piņataland, who specialize in songs about somewhat obscure historical events. I already knew and liked them, and I was annoyed that the venue made them leave before they intended to.

3 Reasons why I didn't see them: 1. They stink 2. too far away 3. Not worth the money.
OK OK relax!! I'm kidding. Actually, the show was sold out before I even heard about it. Also, it's easily an hour (each way) to that show, whereas Deep Ellum in Dallas is like 7 minutes away. But still, my show was very good, so it worked out for the best for my evening.

I am with you Suprabounder. I thought BSS was amazing. It was a great show.
I just got back from seeing the band that turned me on to Bowie... Bauhaus. That was a fun show.
I am thinking about seing Adult. Anyone listen to them? I wonder what they are like live?
Also Low a local band that has just been signed to Sub Pop and Beggars Banquet.
Then it seems like the concert season will slow down until Spring. |

Violent Femmes in Johannesburg over the weekend. They played two sold out nights in the same massive venue Christina Aguilera couldn't even fill for one show.
Excellent show from a great band.

I havn't heard their new album which is supposed to be a much more stripped down sound, but it's got really good reveiws. I have Ha Ha Sounds, which I really love, and some other bits and bobs. Their stuff is really beautiful, it's only the two of them in the band now, they got rid of their drummer and some other folks.

I would think Cake would be fun. I liked their very first cd, but that's all I ever heard.
Broadcast. I think that will be my show of choice. Last year I saw Wilco and MMJ in the same night at two different venues, but I can't work that this Friday because of the distance between the shows.

I don't know much by Cake, but what I've heard was decent. I love the Minus 5. Scott McCaughey is a god among musicians.

Ooh so many - feels like I've not been here for ages. Last week squeezed in 3 screamingtastic gut ache heavy bands which I of course loved. Khanate and Melt Banana this Friday. Pelican have just announced their UK tour and I am still in the throes of hysteria over that one and no closer to deciding on Mastodon vs Eighties Matchbox.
Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself. |

I hate you for seeing Melt Banana. We better get a review that's all I gotta say. This Wednesday is Jello and the Melvins for myself. I'm currently tuning up my heckle for Jello and his inevitable political rhetoric. |

Thanks, Heywood. I'm setting a limit of $100 Canadian but I hear they're going for $600 Canadian thanks to all the fans of U2, for which they are opening.
