Straight to the source! There must be a pound of grease on his forehead alone.
VoVat will get that if no-one else does.

It actually took me a little while to get that reference, Cheeseman. I think I've only seen that episode once.
I'm 27, and my skin is still pretty oily, so...I don't know.

Well, I don't know what Ian Curtis sounds like offhand, but I'm going to guess that I don't.

I always considered my singing voice a cross between Ian Curtis and Ian Dury.

Mine is a cross between...um, two people who can't sing. I do have a relatively high voice for a guy. I guess I'd be a tenor, if I could sing.

I'd actually be pretty excited to see Yoko! You might need earplugs, just in case, though! |

hips like cinderella tonight in stoke, a local band that I love, they have a pixies inspired name but they are more like interpol, worth your time.

I am going to see 2 Many DJ's on October and possibly Mylo too after his Reading performance. Both go on until the wee small hours. More like raves than gigs.

Just figured out a way to sandwich a little bit of Mastodon between 2 Lamb of God shows. I'm a happy bunny (but a broke one at that!)

Next week I'm going to see the Infadels again (guaranteed good night out), then the Go! Team in a couple of weeks (ditto). Sigur Ros in November.

Right - a couple of recent shows I've been meaning to post about:
Firstly I forgot to mention My Chemical Romance a couple of weeks ago - managed to see them in London in a teeny tiny venue. Unfortunately due to dithering and inaccurate information from the venue we managed to miss the first half of the set. They really do put on a great show - great poppy teeny doorslamming tantrumish stuff. The audience was pretty much made up entirely of young screaming fainting emo girls - earplugs wear essential for this alone.
Last weekend was Trivium supported by All That Remains. Musically I think that Trivium are overrated, however they'd been recommended to see live and I was lucky enough to not have to pay for a ticket. The audience this time round were mostly teenage boys and really young ones too. (I helped out a kid who couldn't have been a day older than 11 do his first bit of some rather ace crowd surfing - so tiny he went everywhere!) In terms of a live performance I've seldom seen a band command an audience like they did. I've been to many gigs at the Cockpit and I've never seen an audience go that crazy. The bouncers eventually opened the fire escape doors and had the bar staff throwing buckets of cold water over the moshpit to try cool the kids down. Teenage boys are truly indestructable. Considering that I think the oldest member in the band is 19 and if they manage to write a good album, then all the press about them being the next Metallica may just be right.
Musically speaking I thought the support band were miles better - hardcore band from Boston, I think. Though that was helped on by the fact that their front man enhanced their performance by removing his shirt and displaying his rather fine body for their set.
Tuesday night I went to the Red Stars Parade album launch. Never heard them and all I had to go on was a very favourable album review. Probably far too heavy for most tastes here but I loved them. I knew it was going to be a good show when I met the bass player and he was wearing a Mastodon t-shirt. Tiny venue that could fit into my kitchen with no stage - so probably the most intimate gig I've ever been to. What makes me really happy is that they're a local band, so I should be able to get a great little dose of heavyness coupled with a fabulous live show on a fairly regular basis.

I am going to see Nine Black Alps and Arctic Monkeys play Manchester Academy 2 on 3rd October. Radio 1 are staging the gig, should be a cracker.

I'm seeing Arctic Monkeys later in October - I'll be interested to hear your verdict Homer.
Thursday night I'm off to see Four Day Hombre - not really my cup of tea, but it's a favour for a friend and I've been told that they are quite good.

Well we tried to see them at Reading but the tent was so packed that we had to sit outside and from there all you could hear is bass because the sound was shit. Certainly not the legendary Reading set that everyone was talking about. If anyone tries to tell me "they were there" in years to come, I will say "yeah so was I and it was shit".
This will give me a better chance to judge them. And of course I get to see Nine Black Alps again, which will be the 7th time. More than any other band.
