Well I am not gonna be seeing Weezer supported by Nine Black Alps tomorrow night now, seeing as they decided to change it to Thursday (when I am at Reading) without letting me know when they sent them (they were advertised as being for Tuesday but arrived with the Thursday on). I just hope they give me a refund without my receipt, though I am not holding out much hope of that.

I just saw Tori Amos on Saturday. The openers were The Like (who were okay), and the Ditty Bops (who were quite good).
I think I already mentioned this on another thread, but I'm going to be seeing the New Pornographers in October. I've never seen them live before (although I've seen Neko Case four times).
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

Saw the White Stripes! It was a great show.
It helped ease the burden that I didn't see the Pixies or FB this year. It was fun and entertaining.
Great stage show... Meg and Jack put alot of energy to put on a great show. They really pulled out the stops to make it look consistant with their "Get Behind Me Satan" artwork. There was a lot of detail put into getting the stage the way it looked.
They played mostly songs from their three most recent albums, especially songs off GBMS. It was a real treat. Some of the higlights were a cover of Dolly Parton's Joline. I enjoyed all of the songs but I really like Litte Ghost, the song about women Meg Sings and Doorbell. They just have an endearing quirkiness about them.
It was cool how they went around to different instuments and played such a range of instruments... xylophone, bongos, tympanys (sp?), all types of gutairs and it was just really cool.
I also want to say thanks to the band... we won tickets through a volunteer thing so that was really nice! my husband is a huge fan... so we're going back tomorrow.
we have a few other shows in the works.... i will share with you all how they go. I do keep crossing my fingers that on the slight chance there might be a honeycomb tour coming to town on the horozion.

I would like to see them live. I'm not a big fan, but they seem to have a lot of raw energy. |

I was in the same boat when I saw them Carl - not a big fan, but I was blown away, they play an excellent show. And really really loud, which is good!
How's that for a slice of fried gold? |

you know what, i was in the same place. i mean i liked their songs & cds. but I was always kinda wondering if they were real in terms of their skills... every band post milli vanilli I am pretty sceptical of.
but I like Cheeseman, was blown away. they are a real band and they are really talented at what they do! I just couldn't believe that just two people made the music they made. yes I was blown away both nites.
it's hard to get me excited about a non pixies show... i can name one one hand (50 foot wave, decemberists and pinback) and now the white stripes that have gotten me so excited.

I saw the Wrens last night and it was a phenomenal show. I love small shows where you can get to the front and watch it all so closely. My ears are destroyed today from how loud they were, but I say it was worth it. The bass player was wildly entertaining, playing and jumping around as if he were 17 instead of probably 37. Funniest moment was when he pushed the lead singer hard enough in the back to knock him to the ground on top of the monitors and mic in the middle of a song, and I got to bound up on the stage to set up his mic stand and grab the swinging mic and put it back on the stand while they played (after drinking my own bottle of Makers Mark no less).
Also drunkenly resolved to fly to Seattle to visit my best friend and see the New Pornographers in September since thy are not coming anywhere close to Texas. We'll see.

Well it's the Pixies supported by The Futureheads tomorrow night. I just can't feel too excited yet, I have my post-Reading Festival Stress Disorder to get through.
My friends and I have also booked tickets to see 8-'s Matchbox B-Line Disaster at a very small venue in Manchester at the end of this month, so that should be cool.

Still trying to figure out whether I'm going to that or not. Trivium next weekend to keep the loud rock thing going.

I can't wait to see the band they have in Heaven. I'm sure it's not as cool as the one they have in hell, but the cover charge is cheaper.
