Maybe not the best place to post this, but if any parisian reads this thread: I have an extra ticket to sell for the Smog concert in Paris, June 24th. The price is around 17 euros, I have to check. Send me a mail if you're interested.

Yup and I'm kind of getting over my Download disaster and getting worked up about Leeds now. Plus I've been told that someone fucking awesome is playing London on the 24th - just can't be told who yet - bugger.
Oh and Mars Volta & Mastodon next month |

FANTOMAS FANTOMAS FANTOMAS
Seeing Mike Patton live for the first time is going to almost (not quite but almost) be on par with seeing his esteemed Frankness for the first time. |

Never been a big fan, but just been given tickets and after show party invites to the Motley Crue show on Sunday night. Goodness knows how the hell I'm going to manage to work on Monday. |

spoon were good the other night, very crisp, not too energetic, but very nice to the crowd and they played for a good hour and 15 or so. i'd like to see them again where the crowd was more into it.

I am still in awe of my Fantomas show from Saturday night - Mike Patton is a genius. It is frightening to see him live - those noises are all made by him! Stage presence and charisma by the bucket load. Terry Bozzio was behind the biggest drum kit I've ever seen - hope my pics come out okay - it needs to be seen to be believed. He was drumming from sheet music and the entire band is "conducted" by Mike Patton (twice he stopped a song halfway through, because of drumming fuck ups, but done in such a good way so as not to be an arsehole - and who can blame Terry - that's some highly complicated stuff) and then you can't forget that at the same time you are watching Sideshow Bob's lost older brother - Buzz Melvin doing all that awesome guitar work. The crazy dial just kept being tweaked and tweaked till it all ended in a mad crescendo that I'm dying to see again and kicking myself for not dragging myself down to Sheffield to see them earlier last week.
Motley Crue were Motley Crue - nothing too exciting, missed half the show because we were too busy picnicking in the park - the aftershow however was a place where I saw things that I had never even dreamt of. |

Honestly the Motley Crue gig was so incidental - they were good - the aftershow was something else and made everything else from the entire day (which had been rather err, interesting in it's own right) quite insignificant.
Burlesque show unlike any other I've (and from what I understand Tommy Lee) has ever seen |

I'd agree. Pretty good show tonight. The crowd was so-so into it here in Dallas, but they had a million people and you had to be tall to see, so all the women were pretty much standing still trying to peer through the trees. Sounded really good. I didn't know their music so I'm sure it could have been better if I had.
Aug 27...return of the Wrens to Denton TX. I have a soft spot for them after they burned a copy of their out of print cd Secaucus and mailed it to me after I emailed them on if i could buy one off them somehow.

Well it's the big one for me on Friday. Interpol at Manchester Apollo, about as big a venue as they are likely to headline here. It will be interesting to see if they can pull off as good a show as they did at The Academy last year. Hopefully I can keep it together at this one.

the subhumans (vancouver edition) have recently reformed and i saw them on friday night. canada day at the brickyard, it was hot, the band was great, older, 20+ years or so since they played together. they put out a new ep , 4 songs, i had to grab one. pretty cool. one of the first punk albums i owned was incorrect thoughts, so it was nice to see them perform. some good old fashion skanking going on too, i'm the fucking king of the skank pit, still!

I am going to see Interpol tomorrow night. I know that they wrote NYC about the city in the maftermath of the terrorist attack. I wonder if they will dedicate it to London, or the poeple of. I cry at that song as it is.
