It's good to hear someone defending my all-time favourite Hoople, but there's something about some of the lines that sounds pretty cheesy...
"Hey! Dudes!" (maybe it was hearing David Letterman mockingly throw this into one of his monologues about 30 times)
"I wanna reLATE to you!"
"You, with the glasses..." |

There's a video?!? Thanks for the heads up!
And one more that I completely forgot...the song that single-handedly justifies the entire disco era...

Hey, it was that or PM Live! on SABC...
My bro came back and asked me to download all these tracks he got to love in SA: so I guess, his vote on this thread would be

Ramona - thank you for reminding me how much I love that song.

ON THE WINGS OF LOVE (Jeffrey Osborne)
On the wings of love Up and above the clouds The only way to fly Is on the wings of love On the wings of love Only the two of us Together flying high Flying high Upon the wings of love
Always loved this song. My secret is out now, do I need professional help? |

How about "You Can Dance if You Want To"? I don't even know if that's what it's called, but it's a great (bad) song. And Come On Eileen is pure bliss. Does anyone else think he sounds like Robert Smith in that song? |

No doubt, I remember that one. Might have been the first "raggaeish" song that I ever heard.
I get Wham's Wake Me Up song stuck in my head too often. |

Yep, I agree that Kevin Rowland sounds a lot like Robert Smith. Dexys Midnight Runners' Too-Rye-Aye was one of the first records I ever bought back in '82.Celtic Soul Brothers, one of the songs on that record still makes me feel happy when I hear it.
Anyone remembers Boney M ? They certainly take the prize for the largest contribution of cheesy songs. Don't Kill The World, Rivers Of Babylon, Rasputin, Angelo .............. Feel free to add some more.

Cups and Cakes came from the cheesy-part of their careers, before they got a taste of the metal music. |

Boney M never broke in the States but I can, proudly, add many more songs. Here are but two: Brown Girl in the Ring, Ma Baker.
Safety Dance.....I get chills.

I once owned a Boney M Christmas album. I sold it two weeks later. Too much even for my 12 year old ears

It was a he and he specialises in cheesy music.
My mother has that Boney M Christmas album - enough to ensure I'm not ever home for christmas. Years and years of having to endure that one.
Damn I now have that little drummer boy whatever song in my head. AAAAAAaaaargh!
