Safety Dance! Yes! Gooooood times....
Boney M are GREAT. Don't go callin' 'em cheezy. I (and by 'I', I mean my parents) have every Boney M record on vinyl (except this Christmas records, sounds like a must-have), including the CLASSIC Boonoonoonoos. And the lead singer's hair is great, no one can side part an afro like that man. Hey Carolyn, did you see them when they played last year. I know they were in Calgary, did they make it up to E-town?
And Kathryn, tra, La la la la la. |

Are you telling that not only are Boney M around but they've recently toured Canada!

I'm telling that not only are they still around and touring Canada, but according to my friend who attended their Cow-town show, they are still great and Bonier than ever. Well into their fifties and still kicking out the jams.
And 'Night Flight to Venus' is a great album, top to bottom. |

Yeah, they played at Red's in West Ed. We happened to be in West Ed that night for at a dinner theatre for our christmas party. I sooooooo wanted to sneak out early, but no dice. Would've been cool.

"I believe I can fly." I loooooooooove that cheesy song.
And I also love that R. Kelly's defense for sleeping with a 12-year-old was that he believed she was 14.

Yes, Llama, it does count! I hope you're enjoying your bad self.
This thread caused me to burn some Billy Ocean songs from a friend. Who could forget "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)"? Or the ultra-cheesey " Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car"?

I turned up my nose at Duran Duran at the time, but you know what they aren't that bad. They certainly beat today's mainstream music. |

I heard their new song on the radio. Didn't do much for me. The whole point of Duran Duran was the 80s thing and those crazy videos.

I like she bop! And you're right darwin, the payolas were good. None of the songs I posted are cheesy imo. I think I got that one in my head as my hubby was watching some Metallica thing, its kinda funny as they were making fun of Bob Rock's hair back in the day..

Prior to about 1989 maybe.
Now they're old, money grubbing, bob seger-covering knuckle dragging retards and their music SUCKS.
Oh, and they're cheesy. James Hetfield playing at a Waylon Jennings tribute concert? Cheese. |

I hate Metallica. I really like the song "Nothing Else Matters" though. I find it amazing that he really does seem to say "ah" at the end of every line, most of the time when people make fun of people for shit it isn't that accurate.

It has been hard for me. I've been thinking about that confession for about a month or so.
But as Owen made the brave decission to confess "Papi Chulo", I couldn't hide it anymore.
By the way, I guess I'm not the only one. PLEASE!!!, tell me I'm not the only one!!!

The Darkness are funny (in the "so bad it's funny" sense) but I don't think I could stand listening to the whole album.

Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl
I unearthed this compilation tape from my teenage years. Springfield's song was the first one up and I enjoyed hearing it again. The next song was Heart's What about love. Also terribly cheesy. I should probably not even mention the Alphaville song which then follows........
