I have the perfect one - Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. Beat that for cheesy!

I also love some 80's/90's rap songs like Humpty Dance, Poison (Bel Biv Devoe!), You Say He's Just a Friend, I Got A Man, Push It (Only the sexy people!), etc.

Oh nice. Bonnie Tyler is quality...

How about anything by Dolly Parton? You have to love a bit of 9 to 5.

I think Dolly Parton is fucking brilliant and an amazing songwriter. She doesn't fall into the Cheesy catagory for me. Although 9 to 5 is a bit cheesy.

Kenny Rogers is definetly cheesy and Islands in the Stream sucks. I hate that song. Member that show Dolly had in the early 80's? Kenny was on it a lot and they sang that song. Fuck, what WAS that show?

Dear Ramona, it is with much regret that I must inform you that our own beloved Tre came up with Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" a couple of days ago. (When I say "beloved" I mean it the way you
love a boil that must be lanced, but you get my drift.) Nice try, the ultimate cheeseball song, but you're a wee late. Nonetheless, you rock in your
own cheesy way, Ramona. ;-)

Two more words:

Millie Vanilli.

I'm not saying I liked them, I'm not even sure if that's how they spelled it, but we can't be talking cheesy and omit them!

What about Ice, Ice, Baby or Can't Touch This. Those two account for my experimental rap phase. I was really into both of them. As for Roxette (a few pages back), I loved those guys back in the their day.

Nothing can beat this sick one.

Butterfly Kisses

There's two things I know for sure.
She was sent here from heaven,
and she's daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night,
she talks to Jesus, and I close my eyes.
And I thank God for all of the joy in
my life, But most of all, for...

Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"Walk beside the pony
daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny,
daddy, but I sure tried."
Oh, with all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right
To deserve a hug every morning,
And butterfly kisses at night.

Sweet sixteen today,
She's looking like her momma
a little more everyday.
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and makeup,
from ribbons and curls.
Trying her wings out in a great
big world. But I remember...

Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you daddy,
But if you don't mind,
I'm only going to kiss you on
the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right.
To deserve her love every morning,
And butterfly kisses at night.

All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by
Precious butterfly
Spread your wings and fly

She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise,
and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride room
just staring at her,
she asked me what I'm thinking,
and I said "I'm not sure,
I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
Then she leaned over....and gave me....

Butterfly kisses, with her mama there
Sticking little flowers all up in her hair
"Walk me down the aisle, daddy, it's just about time"
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, daddy?"
"Daddy,
don't cry."
With all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right
To deserve her love every morning,
And butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask God for more, man, this is what love is
I know I've gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning, and butterfly kisses...

I honestly believe that 'Patches' by Clearance Carter is the single greatest song ever written. When I have a band, it will be covered. In fact, it will be my signature song. All shall love me and despair.

Butterfly Kisses is sung by Bob Carlisle. He would love to be Michael Bolton I think. The very popular and extremely crappy local radio station plays this every day so I often hear it at work, the post office, supermarkets etc.

I'm only half keeping to the topic here, it is a cheesy song and I hate it.

Did anyone mention Baby Got Back yet? The Humpty Dance?

Butterfly Kisses is a good one. That song sucks.

What is that cheesy song that goes "I'm already there" by some country group (that might be the title). Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I recently heard Baby Got Back playing in Filenes. I thought that was very odd, but I danced around happily!

I think that line is actually "My ana-conda Don't. Want. Buns. Unless. You've. Got. Buns-hon!"

I could spend hours replying to this one. A random sampling from my "Cheesy Music" folder reveals...

R. Dean Taylor - Indiana Wants Me
Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes
Skee-Lo - I Wish
Edie Gorme - Blame it on the Bossa Nova
Tenacious D - Tribute to the Best Song in the World
CB4 - Straight Outta Locash

Anything by Was (Not Was) or Wang Chung, although I must say that I consider Was (Not Was) to be lyrically geniuses and I'm not too fond of classifying them as cheesy.

And the 80s were a gold mine for cheese...

Language Of Love - Dan Fogelberg
Sexy Girl - Glenn Frey
The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades - Timbuk3
Der Kommisar - After the Fire
Don't Worry, Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin
Centerfold - J. Geils Band
(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection - Nelson
She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby
Safety Dance - Men Without Hats
867-5309 (Jenny) - Tommy Tutone
I Touch Myself - Divinyls
Sunglasses At Night - Corey Hart
We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
99 Red Balloons - Nena
Wild Thing - Tone Loc

And, perhaps taking the cake...

The Girl Is Mine - Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney (I recommend downloading it and listening to it for the full effect)

(Michael)
Every night she walks right in my dreams
Since I met her from the start
I'm so proud I am the only one
Who is special in her heart

The girl is mine
The doggone girl is mine
I know she's mine
Because the doggone girl is mine

(Paul)
I don't understand the way you think
Saying that she's yours not mine
Sending roses and your sill dreams
Really just a waste of time

Because she's mine
The doggone girl is mine
Don't waste your time
Because the doggone girl is mine

I love you more than he
(Take you anywhere)

(Michael)
But I love you endlessly
(Loving we will share)

(Michael & Paul)
So come and go with me
Two on the town

(Michael)
But we both cannot have her
So it's one or the other
And one day you'll discover
That she's my girl forever and ever

(Paul)
Don't build your hopes to be let down
'Cause I really feel it's time

(Michael)
I know she'll tell you I'm the one for her
'Cause she said I blow her mind

The girl is mine
The doggone girl is mine
Don't waste your time
Because the doggone girl is mine

(Michael & Paul)
She's mine, she's mine
No, no, no, she's mine
The girl is mine, the girl is mine
The girl is mine, the girl is mine

(Paul)
The girl is mine, (yep) she's mine
The girl is mine, (yes) she's mine

(Michael)
Don't waste your time
Because the doggone girl is mine
The girl is mine, the girl is mine

(Paul, spoken)
Michael, we're not going to fight about this, okay

(Michael, spoken in a voice that makes Mike Tyson sound like Barry White)
Paul, I think I told you, I'm a lover not a fighter

(Paul, spoken)
I've heard it all before, Michael, she told me that I'm her forever lover,
You know, don't you remember

(Michael, spoken)
Well, after loving me, she said she couldn't love another

(Paul, spoken)
Is that what she said

(Michael, spoken)
Yes, she said it, you keep dreaming

(Paul sings)
I don't believe it

(Michael & Paul)
The girl is mine, (mine, mine, mine)...

The video for that is also extreamly cheesy. I think Linda Macartney ups the cheesy factor - her dorky facial expressions and dancing was always frightening.
