Well, I encourage you all to take a listen that haven't had a chance.

You will definately love it. I love the whole cd from end to end.

I love all the songs, but I really especially love Violet because it is such a great love song. Not sappy, but a true love song like Cactus only more tender

Good point, fbc. I have only heard 2 songs. And I had "My Life Is In Storage" in my head today. Definitely a great song; there's a good chance I will like this record.

I did not like "Sing for Joy" though. That's indicative of the worst stuff on SMYT, when the rootsiness goes too far and/or gets the better of him.

Frankly, I doubt it, since it's something like 55 minutes long. But I'd kill to have it on vinyl.

I tried to wait the official release of Honeycomb...but I couldn't.....I downloaded it and in my opinion it's a good album, very acoustic and quiet, but I prefer the catholics era.

Adam, though I definitely appreciate the question (I am a huge vinyl fan), I would bet you it will not be released on vinyl. Not only is it, as vilainde said, 55 minutes, but since Pistolero, only one FB album has been released on vinyl.

(Wait --- was FBF ever released on vinyl?)

ccuardos, I see how you're saying what you're saying.

But if you go into it with out preconceptions, then you will hear the true beauty of the album.

It's kinda like the way I was with the Yellow/Orange album. Now that's one amazing album-- but listening to it and knowing that the Pixies were broken up all I wanted to hear was Pixies. So no matter what beautiful album FB put out, I wouldn't be satisfied.

But now that I just listen to each album knowing that it will sound different from the rest-- then I can truly appriciate the genius of Frank Black and see each album for its own beautiful individuallity.

Yeah Daisy,

I am agree with you, that was my first opinion because I downloaded it today, it's a good album but I was expecting more rocker songs than ballads, because I'm used to listen the catholics albums, this album is more intimate, but I'm sure that as I listen it, I'll understand the soul of the album.

The album just clicked with me--you know, that point (with nearly every one of Frank's records) where everything comes together and it sounds incredible all of the sudden. I'm so excited and can't wait for the official release.

To the chosen few out there who have heard the Honeycomb rough mix... what song do you think would be the best to release as a single?

Sing for Joy is the obvious one for me considering Everything is New is a single. But maybe too obvious.

I say give us Honeycomb. The playing on it is amazing, from the very first note, it's nothing other than another FB classic. One of the best. And then there's 'My Life is in Storage' and 'I Burn Today and 'Selkie Bride' and...

No singles please Frank, just HC, The Sicilian and a disc of b-sides. This is your year after all.

I say Honeycomb or Song of the Shrimp (though its a cover) would be the best for a single..

OK all you high rollers who want to pay $30 for the Japanese version for that one extra track, it's a goodie.

A cover. With a guest.

Donovan's "Atlantis," the spoken intro is performed by Al Franken.
Personnel is Cropper, Miller & Tiven on electric guitars, FB-lead vocals/ acoustic guitars, Ellis Hooks and James Griffin on background vocals, David Hood bass, Anton Fig on drums, Spooner on keys. Only available on the Japanese import version and please let's keep this one off Soulseek.

Thank you.

kind regards....I mean, bye,
Jon

Dear Erebus,

If you are going to insult my friends, I will make myself scarce.

And if you don't have anything nice to say, why bring it to this board? Most people have been nice and friendly. I suspect you have a political agenda that is rightist, and there are appropriate boards for such caterwauling. We're about the music here.

bye,
Jon Tiven

Al Franken is a Saturday Night Live comedian turned
political commentator, considered by many, including me,
to be a rational, progressive voice in the fascist U.S. wilderness.
He is also the author of several books, including "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot." I, for one, love that he and Frank
worked together.

But, like Mr. Tiven said, it's about the music.

Yeah, certainly didn't see that coming! But he's a clever guy.

It'd be a shame if the track wasn't available by some other means though.

Fuck you. You really are a colossal asshole, aren't you? Poor baby. If I insult your "friend" you'll leave. I thought maybe we'd misjudged you earlier when you made feeding us info contingent upon people checking out that other artist you produced, but we were right, and this recent post proves it. Don't insult friends or I'll leave. Just how infantile is that? And you would send me elsewhere with my "rightist" agenda, while this and almost every alterna-music board is drowning in juvenile leftist self-righteousness. But god forbid anybody speak up for the opposite. And don't tell me what "we're about here", you parasite. Go sell records somewhere else. I'll run down Franken anywhere and anytime I feel like it. Makes me wonder how Frank can even breathe in your presence.

woah woah woah! let's calm it down here folks

we can agree to disagree on politics, but let's try and keep the boards civil, ok? no reason to start kicking and screaming over something so small. can i trust that you guys can do that?

i really don't like pulling out the 'mod' card, but this sort of behavior just isn't needed.

I reserve my right to be outraged at Tiven's post. And I'll insult his "friend" anytime I feel like it. Frank must have been out of his mind to let that asshole Franken anywhere near one of his recordings.
