Why was this song dropped back to B Side (at least this is my understanding of where it ended up)? It has that 60s Animals type quality with the speedy electric organ sound and the crunchy guitar. Was it ever planned to put it on the album that shares its name or was that a reusing of the title?

i'm guessing it was planned for the album but he decided to leave it off.

to be honest, that's one song i can see why he left off (not one of my faves)..

but why Preachers Daughter and Don't Clip Your Wings were left off is beyond me. those tracks are perfection.

SMYT (the song) does have one of my favorite recent FB lines though:

"i puked my guts and you gave me a cheer"

Where can I get the complete lyrics for it? I don't see it in the database.

Show Me Your Tears feels like a TOTY song. How about the acoustic live version of Clip? I liked that one much better than the electric.

It sounded to me more like something off of Pistolero (great album). It might have sounded a little different from the rest of what's on the Show Me Your Tears album, but I don't know it would've kicked to put it as the last track. Lots of quieter songs then juice it at the end to really make a finale.

This song is without a doubt the weakest from the SMYT sessions.
And I concur with Floop about Don't Clip Your Wings.

Well SMYT is not my favourite song

Preacher's Daughter, holy moly, I think it would have been great on the record
I think it's his best b-side

i agee about don't clip your wings. i heard the live solo acoustic version first and fell in love with the song. really fun to play on guitar too. but i was a little let down when i heard the studio version. i thought the studio version was too choppy for the lyrical content or something. still a great song but not as good as that live version.

SMYT is not the best song from that session but i still like it.
