the smell of pot is one of the worst smells, especially on a hot bus on the way to or from work...
and i did look at the site. didn't really seem to be an impartial source of info. it's like me saying drinking alcohol is fine and good, get your facts and info from www.letsgetwastedoncheaplager.com... or whatever.
i'm assuming it's pro legalization or something? i didn't read much of it, to be honest, as i hated the design and stuff of it. and have better things to do... and have no real interest in it.
i have my views. nothing is going to change that as they've been formed from experience and incidents and so on...

why don't you try looking at the Alcohol section... it would take you all night to read all the information on the effects of alcohol.
Maybe the sight appears to be promoting drugs, but I think it's set up like that to attract and educate kids and people who use and don't know what they are using.
See, people are taking all this shit and they have no clue what it is or what it does, that is bad.
You have used alcohol, right? Well, I know you don't know exactly what it is doing to you physiologically, and erowid will tell you.
The main purpose is to educate, not advocate. Why the fuck would a site like that try to promote alcohol, tobacco and caffine, just by explaining and researching what the effects are? Erowid is not making money off Coca-cola, Budweiser or Phylip Morris, nor the black market. Think about it.
You need to take those blinders off my friend. You're just like an addict, always in denial.

or maybe i'm just comfortable in what i'm doing mr. defensive?
i have addictions, everyone does (probably), and i know as much as i need to know about them (although could probably do with knowing more about how to overcome them - but that takes the motivation to *want* to overcome them!)
"Why the fuck would a site like that try to promote alcohol, tobacco and caffine, just by explaing and researching what the effects are?"
sites for all kinds of causes 'explain' facts, figures and statistics to their own purpose all over the net. common practice. you can't blame a bloke for being sceptical.
what am i in denial about btw?

I don't blame you for being skeptical, however I think this site is great, and extremly informative, and a good thing because it educating people who don't even know what they are consuming. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I guess you're not in denial, that was a cheap shot. It jsut seems you are reluctant to be open to new ideas concerning drugs including alcohol.
I don't care if you're a junkie or you're straight-edge, I think you should be educated about what you are doing to your own mind and body, and to help others who don't know.
Obviously I have a conviction about this topic.

Does anyone find that you can't read worth a shit when you've smoked. I'd love to read, but I find that I just keep trying to read the same page about a dozen times until I say screw it, screw it I say! :)

understood lbf. i can't handle my drink very well, so i stick with that. it gets me in enough trouble without trying anything else.
but i guess i am pretty straight-edged. i don't know how it is over there, but over here, in the kind of social circles i'm in, i'm actually in more of a minority at times, well more often than not, certainly at uni... so maybe the new rock'n'roll is *not* doing drugs? i've never liked anything that is popular.
yeah, that'd sound more convincing if i didn't drink...

Wow. Me too. I could never get stoned alone. Last time I did, I had a most disturbing post-apocalyptic dream...involved acres of rolling hills covered with dead and dying naked bodies several bodies deep...but "The Overseer" was the most disturbing part. Overcast skies... big naked 9ft flesh colored humanoid - no eyes, just bruised colored flesh cover where eyes would be...no mouth, nose...no genitalia. Most disturbingly, as it patrolled the fields of the dead and dying (my vantage point was from the ground...i was one of them...and I knew it was real), it wore around its neck...as a necklace of sorts, a pair of human legs...ankles crossed at the being's chest...i assume they were joined somehow behind its head. Disturbing fucking dream . I remember falling alseep before the dream - having the sensation of demons encroaching upon me...hassling me. Suddenly I said to them in my mind while sort of pushing them away or elboing them out of my way as I walked towards sleep..."alright, alright - you're just fucking demons - you're not the real deal...I'm probably more evil than most of you anyway...step aside or I'll tell your boss you were fucking with me..." and they seemed to back off...became sort of cartoonish and allowed me to pass. Then, I fell asleep and had that dream.
Now, I never smoke when sober - especially before sleep. Usually, like I said before - its on a gig...and not even that so much anymore...

The last thing I am trying to do Simon is advocate illicit drug use, or get into some pointless argument and what is and what will never be.
For me, I wish I had been educated when I was a young kid, because I wasn't, and I did a lot of things I wish I hadn't, and I don't want that to happen to others.
You know, I fucked up, I'm dealing with it, and on the way, if I can help someone else from making the same mistakes I did, I feel like I did something good.
I'm not a fucking hero or anything, but I do feel rather strong about the whole drug-education thing, even caffine.

It's hard, but worthy after all. I read "The Hobbit" again ten years after my first read and it was like if I was a child again. Ten pages and I felt asleep .

Yeah, apl. I can get that way, too. I get stoned and my head rushes with thoughts of how it's all going to end badly and these mass conspiracies will fuck EVERYTHING up and no one can be trusted. I really hate being drunk and stoned (some call it crunk) and then my heads seriously tripped out and my friends will start talking about all this messed up shit, like conversations about the Bible or the government and I can't handle how intense it is and I end up vomitting cuz my head is spinning so much from thinking. Good times.
I don't always get ultra paranoid on pot. I've enjoyed the experience many times.

Yeah, I remember when I was trying to find information on something involving pot (probably either arguments for legalization or the drug's effects), and most of what I could get was extremely biased toward one side or the other. There were the pothead websites saying, "Marijuana is harmless, maaaan," and the government sites saying, "If you so much as LOOK at a joint, you'll die immediately!" I think the truth is somewhere in between the two.

you didn't read the site either.
There's more about alcohol than you know, why do you act like you do know when you don't?.

I think everyone has a right to their opinion, but people, LOOK at the site in detail before drawing a judgment on it!!! Both Erowid.org and Lycaeum.org are pretty damn objective...informational and educational. There are 1st-hand user accounts included (both NEGATIVE and POSITIVE) on Erowid. I understand being skeptical, the internet is notorious for the propagation of bullshit, but please EXAMINE the site in detail before drawing a judgment on it.
Pot has made me paranoid quite a few times, but never to the extent that apl4eris or K.S.R. described...man, that must be fucking scary. The worst paranoia I had is when I still lived at my parents house, and they were out of town one day, so I got really stoned and was playing games on my PC...suddenly, it occurred to me that I was extremely high, immersed in this game, and any psycho or murderer or burglar could be UPSTAIRS right now...hell, he could have snuck up on me behind my back in the past two minutes, and I would have had no idea...at this point, I freaked out, shut down the game, and went and surveyed the entire house to make sure the doors and windows were locked. What a jackass... |

I am incredibly lucky in that I don't get paranoid on weed - happened a couple of times - I find it makes me erm, horney. |

i thought vovats comments were fair, chill lbf, you're not doing yourself any favours flying off the handle at everyone with a slightly different opinion than your's...
also it's slightly hard to take the site as a serious objective source when the people sticking up for it *are* the pot smokers and that flaming design that makes it look like one of those sites where you can buy your seeds from...

I'm sorry, I am not trying to sway anyone to agree with me, honestly. I just think it's annoying when people make bold statements without anything to back up their statements. I haven't even stated my opinion. But I am sorry I don't have the composure that PsyhichTwin has in explaining pretty much the same things I want to say. I'm sorry, I'll chill, and I'll try to hold onto the handle.

the websites that try to tell the truth and be honest about drugs are always slightly pro-drugs. it is very hard to get an objective opinion on something like drugs. |
