oh another pet peeve! when people smoke pot at gigs! that really pisses me off... it's bad enough having fag smoke in your face in a hot and sweaty venue, but pot smoke, that really is horrible.

I think cigarettes are much worse than pot. I would much rather be around pot smoke than 2nd hand cigarette smoke. I think the carcinogens and chemicals are much worse, more dangerous and more destructive.

I am just going to create a MACRO for that.

jarvis cocker said something interesting (i'm not a big fan, it just hit home), something about being more proud of songs/albums he had wrote whilst sober and drug-free, as he knew it was his work, heartfelt and didn't need substances to help...

i don't know. i like my creativity being spontaneous, not forced.

I'm not talking about AT concerts, I said FOR concerts.

Sheesh... I don't like to get in arguments about smoking. It ends up being a loop of drama.

Wow, I hate getting in threads late. Myself, I smoke. I have stopped and started and stopped on and off for years so what do I say? I don't think it's that bad if you're responsible with it. Don't get high every damn day or for every little thing you do. Smoke with friends, but not around friends that don't smoke. It can relax you, but you can get strung out as well if you really have something bothering you. Know when to stop for a while. In my own experience it may enhance creativity, but it does stiffle motivation to be creative at times. As far as concerts, I will before some shows elsewhere from the venue. Same with Films. I get high for the Simpsons on sundays. An end of the week come down.

I have been smoking marijuana, drinking alchohol&coffee and doing yoga stretches off and on for 37 years, I feel fine and have suffered no adverse effects. However you feel about smoking it you must agree it's a stupid law that treats it differently than Wild Turkey 101, a much more dangerous (but also very good) substance.

'legalize, don't criticize' - i hope that's something you just made up and isn't the actual slogan for the legalizing campaign over there...

Well, speaking of music...if you write something when you're high and you only play it when you're high and the only people who ever hear it are high, then you're good.

Hence, String Cheese Incident....and millions of other bad jam bands across the world.

It's a UB40 song, not something we use over "here" in our campaig...

Legalise it, yeah, yeah,
Don't criticise it
Legalise it, yeah, yeah,
and I will advertise it
Some of them call it tambi
Some of them call it deh weed
Some call it marijuana
Some of them call it ganja
Every man got to legalise it, yeah, yeah,
Don't criticise it
Legalise it, yeah, yeah,
and I will advertise it
Singers smoke it
And players of instruments too
Legalise it, yeah, yeah
That's the best thing you can do
Doctors smoke it, nurses smoke it
Judges smoke it, even the lawyer to
So you've got to legalise it, yeah, yeah
Don't criticise it
Legalise it, yeah, yeah,
And I will advertise it
Politicians smoke it, and their children too
Policeman smoke it, when them a steal it from you
We've got to legalise it, yeah, yeah
Don't criticise it
Legalise it, yeah, yeah,
And i will advertise it

That's actually a Peter Tosh song originally, I believe.

Yeah, chronic pot use takes a toll on motivation. I just don't like people who use the excuse that it "makes them more creative." For me, creativity is either there or it's not...pot just tends to be an enhancer for what is already there. Like somebody said, a dead-end slacker who is headed toward absolutely nothing will just get there faster by being a pothead. A motivated, artistic, or just generally highly-driven individual will probably not forfeit all their strengths just because they toke a spliff frequently.

It is an anti-social drug though, unless you are doing it with other smokers. Which is why I don't smoke around my non-smoker friends...furthermore, I don't even think about it when I'm with them. "Addictive substance" my ass. If pot was regulated by the government, and the enterprise was taken out of the criminal grasp, we would all be better off.

Everytime I hear that song I want to get reeeeaaaaaalllly stoned.

I may disagree with what your opinion is on concerning drugs from alcohol, tobacco, caffine and pot, to LSD, METH, and Cocaine... whatever....

I'm just saying that whatever your opinion is, it might be a little stronger if you knew what the fuck you are talking about, be chess, futbal, or the effects of drugs.

Dig man?

Yes, yes indeed.

On that note, anybody know what those little grey men are up to? I mean to find out.

I haven't smoked in a coon's age. It always made me severely paranoid, maybe due to the company at the time, or incidents of insanity. Certain memory of a night of "too many" 40s, some really really good weed, and a friend nicknamed "Manic" with 12 inch spiked hair with an ax to grind with the universe taking it out on her dining room table while we watched in drunken bemusement. She and the table took it outside, loud banging screaming and harsh invectives at 2 AM outside the screen door of the apartment, then "Oh shit", all quiet. Screen door swings open, when what do our wondering eyes see, but insane punk girl staggering through the door, 4 inch nail in the middle of her forehead, responsible party -the table leg- still in her left hand.

That was an interesting mile-long walk to the Emergency room of that little backwater town. We waited for what seemed like days to find out the nail hadn't gone through her skull.

I should add, I looooooove the smell of pot. LOVE it. And the taste. I wish it didn't make me so damn paranoid, but as others have mentioned, it seems to enhance your own thought patterns. I'm just a paranoid kinda gal, and the people I chose to hang around with while smoking were all more than a little kooky. Lots of head-fuckery. It doesn't relax me or make me giggly, it makes me think even more than usual, and my mind tends to run with visions of demon-people and apocalyptic conspiracies. Sucks, really. But damn if I didn't try like crazy to enjoy it. I certainly enjoy and relate to the pot-influenced music and thinking of others. The only art I ever did while stoned was not to my liking.
