I wanted to share some interesting stories about meeting the Pixies last night prior to their show at the Ryman.

My brother, my son (11 years old, fifth-grader) and I hung out by the backstage door in the side alley between the Ryman and Robert's Western World and Jack's BBQ last before the show. We got there at 6:30 p.m. and the first person we met was Kelly Deal standing outside by the backstage door. I introduced her as Kim Deal to my son and she politely corrected me and stated that she was Kelly. Well, I quickly recovered from my mistake and asked her about the Breeders. She was very polite and allowed me to take her picture standing next to my son.

The next person we met was Dave Lovering. He was very polite also. He allowed pictures to be taken and signed autographs. Very much the gentleman.

While I was inside buying T-shirts, my brother met Joey and got his autograph.

And, then came The Man. A Chevy Suburban slowly drove up the alley and stopped about 10 feet from the backstage door. The Man and Kim emerged from the vehicle and we met them just before they entered the Ryman. They were both very polite. They were about 7 of us out there and Frank and Kim stopped to sign autographs for everyone. Frank posed for two pictures with my son. He smiled when I told that my son (11 years old) has grown up listening to Frank Black and now he was disovering the Pixies. He smiled again when I told him that we were really excited about Honeycomb coming out and that we would love for him to showcase the album around town prior to its release. After signing autographs and posing for my pictures, The Man and Kim ascended up the backstage steps, and the rest, is history.

It was truly a wonderful experience. My brother and I are amazed and my son is on cloud 9.

Wow what a great tale!

I have one........not a patch on the one above but here it is..........blink and you'll miss it!!

I was at Brixton Academy in 1990 and I was down near the front on the right hand side, quite a bit before the start.
Well I looked back over my shoulder and saw a big long leather coat coming my way through the crowd, I could tell at once it was "the man" no one seemed to recognise him!!???
He came past me and I just patted him on the shoulder and said "have a good one" he said "thanks".

That's my story. As I said not a patch on the one above but it made my day : )

As charming as oldman's tale is Lex, i find yours to be superior in one important way:

A friendly Black Francis circa 1990 is a much more rare bird then a friendly Frank Black circa 2004.

Hey Old Man,
I think I saw you at the Ryman last night. Did your son have a black pixies shirt on and when you took him up to the stage to take a picture in front of the band playing a security guard asked you to return to your seat? If so, I remarked to my brother how some day I'll be toting my kid around to see FB. I thought that was cool of you. Somehow, with a nice hookup, I ended up on row three, right in front of FB. My voice is still recovering (like Kim's hopefully).

Hey FranknWeezer,
Yeah, that was me. My son had on a black Pixies hooded sweatshirt. And, yes, it is soooo cool to have a son that digs Frank Black and the Pixies. Don't tell anyone, but he was allowed to stay home from school today, a sort of musical holiday.

Hey bumblebeeboy2, FranknWeezer, and anyone else that is interested, I had the pictures developed today and placed on a CD. Now, as soon as I can figure out the best way to share them with everyone, I'll be glad to. Perhaps some of you have an idea on this. I guess I could email them, but isn't there a way that I could post them somewhere for others to download?

Upload them to shutterfly and share them out.

www.shutterfly.com .

There are two ways to do it.
Once you get an account created and get them uploaded, there is a 'share online' function that you lay a bunch of email addresses into and it sends those people a link to the pics you chose to share.

The other way is to view a pic (when you click on one to view, it starts a little slideshow of the album...hit the stop button) and then right-click over it, choose 'properties' and copy the URL. You can then send someone the URL or use it to actually post the image in a forum or messageboard - like this one!

Other than that, you could probably upload them into the gallery here at FB.net : http://www.frankblack.net/gallery/

Either way, we'd all love to see them.
