So they've got 7 shows in Australia/New Zealand in November opening for Pearl Jam, then nothing til April. January is full of Teenager of the Year shows.... Just seems weird to have a new Pixies album come out and then not a lot of shows to support it until 7 months later. Maybe they'll announce some US dates for Feb/March...

It really makes me think that Zombies was intended to come out earlier this year, and this summer was meant to be the Zombies tour. But the Paz thing happened and they had to re-record parts with Emma, which pushed everything back. So they still did all the shows they did this year, but without a new album out to promote. Kinda strange.

They have recording sessions in London this fall... if all goes well with that they could have another album in the can before the Zombies tour even starts!

Although a lot of groups say that

And Ween was probably actually the closest (get well Deaner)

But yeah this looks like a nice run of shows for folks there to enjoy

Would be amazing if they represented all 10 albums on these tours. Just pick your favorite from each album?

What’s the most likely contenders from each album?

My favourites:

Caribou
Bone Machine
Gouge Away
Velouria
Alec Eiffel
What Goes Boom
Head Carrier
Daniel Boone
Doggerel
(too early/incomplete)

Most likely:

Nimrod's Son
Vamos
Wave of Mutilation
Cecilia Anne
Head On
Snakes (although Greens and Blues has been the only one they've played off the album this tour, albeit 3 times)
All the Saints
Death Horizon
Nothing from Doggerel has been played after its tour, so there aren't really any clues of what they're most attached to.
Vegas Suite

setlist of the first show (luxembourg): https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pixies/2025/den-atelier-luxembourg-luxembourg-5b5e830c.html
(possibly not entirely correct/complete. it reads "Note: Setlist may be out of order")

it's educational

How beautiful to open up the tour with a David Lynch cover.

I could cry

So the show in Antwerpen was massive. 7000 to 8000 people.
A little too crowded for me. Pixies isn't a arena rock band, in my book.

Some nice songs (The Happening, Death Horizon, a You're so Imptatient that actually rocked) and lot's of Doolittle.
Oyster Beds was way to slow and also Kings of the Praire was lacking a lot of energy.
I had a feeling they didn't want to test the patience of such a large crowd.
It was kind of a festival set list, I guess.

Not my favorite show, but Dave was better at doing his fills than last year
Emma has such a nice voice. Still, I missed Paz as she was very energetic and a nice addition to the static Joey, Frank and Dave.

Maybe that Emma is a better match though.

Thanks for the review Mr. Goodman

The setlists on this tour so far look fun

But I always wonder how the slow 2.0 songs will be received - having Prairie and Vegas back to back is a really mellow duo

Yeah, although I do think that some contrast is nice
Still, there are better slow 2.0 songs than those two (All the Saints for instance)

Hope to get 'I Hear You Mary' live - one of my favourite Zombies songs. 'Ernest Evans' has grown on me too!

'Vegas Suite' still feels pretty undercooked for me and like many of the weaker 2.0 songs seems to go on forever.

So Motoroller was played last night, a very nice song in a live setting. An energetic evening compared to the Lotto Arena.
Great sound, as was the Antwerpen Arena show, but in a different way.

Sadly no Jane or Mercy Me like other nights this week.

I was expecting way more Zombies to be honest. They played almost all of Doggerel and BTE on those tours.
Maybe they will in the next leg of the tour?

Way more Bossanova and Trompe than pre-BossaTrompe. It's amazing that The Happening seems to be a live staple.
Dig for Fire was also a blast last night.

First rock concerts for my sons. I went to a Pixies show with my father last year (and in 2004), so this is full circle

I'm loving that they are opening with 2.0 songs, TNTZC songs

That's great to play 3 songs from Zombies before any familiar tracks. Wonder what the crowds thought.

And thanks for your reports Bill!

Opening with You're so Impatient is good
It's short, it's fast and pretty simple

Oyster Beds was still too slow and sloppy
Frank was very loose that night. Fun to see

But the crowd can handle two short new songs at the beginning.
They are still underselling their new work in my opinion.
But if they are giving us BossaTrompe songs I'm not complaining too much.
