Wow. Just wow. Saw the band twice last month, and sadly no Primrose.
Such a great melody, lovely singing and Joey is really nailing it too.

Mercy Me sounded wonderful, and Jane was pretty decent too. Enjoyed Primrose also. Never been a big fan of Chicken or The Vegas Suite.

Had hoped to hear the Ernest Evans/Impatient/Oyster Beds trio, but the rest of the set certainly made up for it. Was with a couple of pals, one of whom had never seen the band (but knew the 'big' songs) - both thrilled by the show.

A likely explanation regarding Snakes is that it's capoed second fret on Charles' guitar, so fits nicely back to back with some of those Zombies songs - easy to seague into without another guitar swap.

Yeah, I remember them talking about how Snakes always seemed to play well with the crowds. Probably something to do with the driving beat.

In my book there are 5 of 6 songs of IC that I'd rather hear at a concert
Still, Snakes has a nice intro

Band on very good form in Cardiff last night. Very classic/'hits' stacked first half. The PA dipped out during Motorway to Roswell (restored just as a reprise of the chorus hit!).
Brank_Flack Posted - 05/21/2025 : 10:25:53
Yeah, I'm also happy about the song selection from Zombies - most songs are in rotation except for Hypnotized, I Hear You Mary, and Johnny Goodman, as it should be. It seems Snakes has become a staple. Glad to see an IC song in there, but not near the top of my list of Pixies 2.0 songs I would like to see.

Last night Subbacultcha into D=RxT

Another great looking setlist with lots of Zombies

Wow what a setlist, I thought every show on this tour would have 10 from Zombies. Took them some time.

Nice to see Death Horizon back in the set and All Over The World αnd The Happening. Who would have thought?

Some great songs by Trompe not being played after the BossaNova tour
But they will be in the American leg

Wow indeed

That is an amazing setist for sure

I bet having so many Zombies songs works both ways, you'd be psyched to hear the new songs, and then we he finally plays some classics that would really connect

Yeah completely agree about Snakes live. When I saw them on Head Carrier tour (2016 - can't believe that's 9 years ago now) it was one of the best songs.

Joey started with weird spacey distortions (couldn't tell what song it was going to turn into) and they extended the instrumental sections to sound like a Vamos stomp with Joey sprinkling sci fi vibes all over the place. Completely changed my view of that song because of that performance.

Greens and Blues is a welcome return, but always found Snakes one of the weaker IC tracks. Still, 31 songs played on the first night in Brixton!

Looks like they brought out snakes and greens and blues in Edinburgh last night
Ziggy Posted - 05/14/2025 : 10:19:03
If I hadn't seen the band before these shows, then the setlists are a very good mix of songs from the original run and a handful of newer ones. The sets do seem to be leaning to slightly fewer songs than we've been used to for the last decade, but it's still a great list.

I do wonder if we have a slightly similar situation to when they were promoting 'Indie Cindy' - another record with a rather troubled production and where several of the tracks never got a live airing. Again, puzzling not to hear some of the rockier songs.
Bedbug Posted - 05/12/2025 : 00:21:36
Yes! Love that
billgoodman Posted - 05/11/2025 : 12:05:50
Oh and WIMM sounds a bit like Dylan live
The way Frank refuses to sing the proper vocal melody in the proper time signature
if you know what I mean

Haha, an UK Surf version would be great!

Maybe the performances of Oyster Beds you heard were the UK Surf version?

In all seriousness, I do wonder if eventually someday the only way they can play some of these songs from the 1.0 era is to reimagine them a la Bob Dylan or something like that
billgoodman Posted - 05/11/2025 : 09:24:34
Interesting choices indeed! I saw Oyster Beds two times, and the band was lacking way too much engery. And I really love the track on the record

Last night: 10 songs from Doolittle seems a little but too much but the crowd probably ate it up.

Personally I would be very happy with the 6 from Bossanova
And some nice ones from Zombies:

It's an interesting one. I'm in no hurry to hear some of the Zombies songs, but odd to leave out the singles like Oyster Beds.

Good to see Down to the Well played last night. Surprised how few showings it's had over the years.

They are finally picking up some steam!

32 songs that night. What a blast!

Opening with You're so Impatient is good
It's short, it's fast and pretty simple

Oyster Beds was still too slow and sloppy
Frank was very loose that night. Fun to see

But the crowd can handle two short new songs at the beginning.
They are still underselling their new work in my opinion.
But if they are giving us BossaTrompe songs I'm not complaining too much.

I'm loving that they are opening with 2.0 songs, TNTZC songs

That's great to play 3 songs from Zombies before any familiar tracks. Wonder what the crowds thought.

And thanks for your reports Bill!

So Motoroller was played last night, a very nice song in a live setting. An energetic evening compared to the Lotto Arena.
Great sound, as was the Antwerpen Arena show, but in a different way.

Sadly no Jane or Mercy Me like other nights this week.

I was expecting way more Zombies to be honest. They played almost all of Doggerel and BTE on those tours.
Maybe they will in the next leg of the tour?

Way more Bossanova and Trompe than pre-BossaTrompe. It's amazing that The Happening seems to be a live staple.
Dig for Fire was also a blast last night.

First rock concerts for my sons. I went to a Pixies show with my father last year (and in 2004), so this is full circle
