This is kind of wishful thinking, but wouldn't it be nice if Frank recorded a live unplugged album with the Catholics, kinda in the vein of Nirvana's. I'm kind of thinking how nice St Francis sounds (I believe that song is mostly unplugged instruments). He could throw in a few covers and re-tool a couple oldies to fit in the setting. Has anyone ever heard the acoustic demos for Broken Face and I'm Amazed? Those two songs that turned into wild punky nuggets started off as these amazing, almost forlorn folk songs. They could almost be completely different songs. Anyhow, I'm wondering if would be able to turn any of his other rocking songs into impressive acoustic tunes. |

Frank Black has been mentioned several times on Mtv And Even Vh1 So I believe it would even be nice to see an MTV unplugged album by Frank Black And The Catholics

i like it on the amazed demo when he sings the lead line. such an album would be cool as

Dood, I was just going to post this same idea today! I think an acoustic album would be great. I've been listening to SSMVGD and it seems to be mostly mellow songs - I really enjoy it and I whish he would do just what you propose. |

Oddly enough, considering Frank now owns a mobile recording studio and rehearses his band to near-perfection, and has a predilection for tracking live to 2-track, he recently told me he has no plans to make a "live album".
In fact, he said he had absolutely no interest in even professionally-recording any of his concerts, despite the fact that many of them are regularly solid enough to be released officially.
He just doesn't feel the need or see the point.
Sorry for the bringdown.

I admit I've only seen him once but from that show and what I've heard of some others I have to say that I doubt many of his shows are solid enough to release. That's a bit strange since he records live - I wonder what the difference is. |
