This is really in response to Ramona's post regarding new music, but seeing as that one has stretched to three pages, I thought I'd make a new topic, because my ideas and thoughts are of such great importance. An excellent band I have yet to see mentioned here (although I may have missed it), is Spoon. I highly recomend anyone to check out any of their last three albums (A Series of Sneaks, Girls Can Tell and Kill the Moonlight, which came out on Aug 20, 2002, much like two other brilliant albums). A Series of Sneaks has been compared to the Pixies endlessly, though I don't see that much of a similarity. Fantastic vocals (both lyrical content and quality of singing), interesting musical ideas, and a varied sound from record to record. Anyway, I've babbled enough. Frank Black rules, etc, have a nice day. |

spoon are excellent - i saw britt daniel (lead spooner) give two solo (well almost, spoon's keys man was with him...) performances in one night in NYC 11/02/02. Amazing. He covered John Lennon's "isolation" and it was amazing.

everything hits at once is very cool, I have kill the moonlight and love it. I'm having a hard time finding Girls Can Tell in stock at the record store. |

i saw them open up for Guided By Voices last year and thought they were pretty excellent live, but i've been disappointed by their records.
i find them listenable, but ultimately lacking. like, they ALMOST reach the point of rocking, but somehow fall short.. it's kind of frustrating..
that's why i'd rather just listen to some Black Sabbath.
