I have a couple of Teles. A '69 Tele Thinline Reissue and a Nashville Tele (with a Strat pickup in the middle). I usually play the Thinline, but for some reason, as of late I've been playing my Nashville - although I never use the Strat pickup.
And no, I don't play Teles just 'cause Frank does. In fact, that's not even one of the reasons I started playing Teles.

I play a Fender custom 72 Telecaster (the one with a humbucker in the neck position). I've also got a Tokai Telecaster. Damn fine guitars. They Sound so nice through my Fender hot rod deluxe amp.
I bought the Tokai guitar 8 years ago, back in the days when you could smack me in the face with a Telecaster and I still wouldn't have known what type of guitar it was. Now I don't play anything else except Teles.

yes jazzmasters are sweet I havea red one with the head to match also a cheap mexican tele witch i put a stacked humbucker in. it's sweet as well last year frank let me play one of his teles and the godin the night before they were stolen. I was in Baltimore. I definatly want a godin he told me the tele I was playing was the first nice one he ever bought when he started making good money. I was shocked to hear that all his shit was stole the next day. |

I've always wanted a nice tele (and I'll admit that Mr Thompson had a lot to do with it), but wanted a Rickenbacker more. I suppose it has alot to do with the whole semi-hollow body thing, I never could get too far away from my acoustic, plus you don't see too many rickenbackers in Irish Music stores. Turned 30 this year but instead of an early mid-life crisis I got a ric instead, all down to my other half. She bought me les paul style De armond with bigsby tremolo last year (damn fine guitar, especially when your trying to sound like Joey Santiago), so who knows whats coming next...thats if we can still afford to eat while we pay off the creditcard bill. |

Derek and any other SG interested parties, I got my SG on eBay for less than $500 if you can believe that...I've had it for over a year now and it has been the best electric I've ever played. I suggest you look there...though, obviously, not every SG you see on eBay is a keeper. Mine was posted for sale by a music store in NY, and I was able to call them and ask lots of questions, etc. He even played it for me over the phone before I bid on it. By the way, you should hear it *crunch* on So. Bay, thanks to your tab, I might add. Good luck SG hunting, FranknWeezer |

I have a Telecaster Mexican style, admittedly at least partly based on FB influence, but more so because it's like the least visually conspicuous way to play electric guitar that I have seen. I also have a Norman acoustic that looks and sounds nice. But the one I play most is my $30 dollar "classical" guitar (came with steel strings) that I got after the kind little Tijuanera woman literally ran after me after calling her final bluff of $35. I am really a bad bargainer, but I speak/understand a little espanish, and I used that as best I could. Don't you guys just think that is so neat, that you can go down there and have this little encounter with another culture and come up with this physical remnant, that might be crap, but it still sounds nice and works and is goody good?

The only guitar i have is a '56 les paul goldtop. It is heavy and has big strings on it so I feel like I'm about to brake a strat as soon as I put one on. I want a Fernandes Revolver 7-string pro, those sustainers with a Q-595 crybaby is what the world needs. spy

I have a Jackson bass, ancient thing, from the early 80's i believe. No idea what make it is, no markings. From San Dimas tho.
I don't play metal at all, but i had a Mex PBass as well, and sold it in favor of the Jackson. Took me a long time to get used to, since i was used to playing on the PBass, but now i like how it plays better.. When i play my friends PBass (or i should say my old one!), i'm wishing i was playing my Jackson.
The hockeystick headstock is butt-ugly tho, if i ever play it on stage i'll prolly put a paper bag over it.... ;)

I know I'm going to get booed by you rock purests, but I play 2 Steinbergers XT's (the full bodied ones). The active EMG pickups and active EQ's crank out so much juice that it gets really great distortion out of my stomp boxes. It's got sustain for days. and I only have to tune it once before the show. |

I *love* Steinbergers.. Martin Tielle (from the Rheostatics), one of Canada's greatest muso's plays one, and he is to be worshipped.
I actually really like the really small bodies..easy to transport for someone like me on a bicycle..i've been eying the bass model for years... Whaddya think of these mega-cheap ones?

Also, i'm not much of a guitar buff - why wouldn't someone like a Steinberger? |
