Wacky British TV! When I was studying in England (circa 1989-90) there was an extremely dull show, the premise of which centered around aliens who traveled the universe as dining chairs. Anybody remember what that piece of crap was called? It haunts me in my worst insomniac moments.
Must go bake birthday cake--my sweetie turns 32 today! Hope to chat with you fine folk soon. It's turning into an epistolary thread! |

Father Ted, sigh. And no more of The Office!!!!!!!!! Unless we get the odd one-off special. Did anyone watch/like How Do You Want Me? It starred Dylan Moran and was excellent in my view.
Aliens as dining chairs??? Sorry Sarah, what substances were you using at the time? And a happy belated to Rampant Bob. |

love dylan moran! (not sexually of course). great comedian - and definitely one of irelands top stand ups along with dara o briain and colm murphy. he had a great show here a while ago called black books - with bill bailey (who is also very funny). really do miss the office - although not too sure whether it will ever make it across the pond. huge fan of father ted as well - great show - and amazed that we arent the only nation who appreciates it! dermot will be missed. still utterly convinced that the funniest thing on tv at the moment though is ready steady cook. Cheers! Barry

Hello all. I have just sat down to do some world altering work. I have received an email informing me that Ms. Ramona's internet is down and she misses everyone here at the HH and says hello. She will be back asap. I have had a liking for Irish/British humour from Faulty Towers to Father Ted. But I must say that one of the funniest shows I have seen from that genre has to be the Young Ones. Hey Baz, what do you think of Ally G? I think that is how you spell his name.
Strummer-man I had me a vision!

I like Black Books, but preferred How Do You Want Me. Dylan now lives in Edinburgh, Baz!
Hi Bren, I liked the Young Ones at the time - I have no idea what I would make of it now.

Morning, misters! I swear it was an actual show. I think it was called Where Are You Henry. Perhaps it was children's show. It was simultaneously very dull and shockingly awful.
Thanks for the card, Andy! B says that Frank looked shocked that he's 32. The gifts Z & I ordered for him did not arrive in time, but my mother sent him a birthday card with a tasty cash filling and he bought himself . . . a 2 CD Rhino anthology of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons! I think he's officially old now. |

DAWN, run away I'm no good for you!
He had it cranked up all last night. I never saw anyone thrash to Frankie Valli before. He's a very a large person--I'm lucky he didn't break anything. I think the hilarity of the un-ironic falsetto bravado must be the appeal. |

As well as the fact that he is not @! I wish I had been there to see Rampant Bob at his thrashing best. |

Rampant Bob! Haha! We sat at a table at the last FB & the C show, all sedate and messed up on cold medication until Frank launched into Black Rider at the end of the set. Suddenly B sprang from his seat, knocking over three chairs and just moshing in place, all by himself. Everyone else in the mezzanine area fled but me (having seen it all before.) Give him a ten-foot radius and nobody gets hurt.
How's the cold? |

I'm a lot better, thanks. Sheena is still suffering, but it has taken the edge off her teething, and her sleep is better! I quite fancy Rampant Bob's cold medication though - if the effect you describe above is anything to go by. |

Poor little punk rocker! At least she's getting a little more rest.
Hee-hee. I think all the meds did for Bob were to suppress his natural inclination for destructive dancing until the end of the show when it began to wear off.
Weather alert! Hell is freezing over--we may actually get snow tomorrow! If we're lucky it will last a full day before melting. |

Snow in or near Toad Suck?? How is it possible? Today we have gales - I thought that our roof had blown off last night (it is clear now that Bob had just put the Frankie Valli on). |

Ya'll do have some strange wind action over there. The winter I spent in the UK there was no snow in southern England but these crazy wind storms. We lost all our shingles, and people were getting brained left and right with flying roof tiles. I recall being lifted and carried ten feet one day before my umbrella imploded, and Mae West is not a little slip of a girl. |

Ahhh, Mae West as Mary Poppins. Dick van Dyke indeed. (Adopt preposterous Cockney accent): " 'ow are you, Mae West Poppins?" " Come up and see me for a threesome sometime..." "Strike a light, Mae West Poppins, guv". |

Hey, that's "Come up and see me for a very disappointing threesome sometime." ;-)
Actually tried to watch Mary Poppins recently, and I'm damned if I could make a bit of sense out of it. I think the writers were on mushrooms. |

I don't think I have ever managed to watch it all the way through. Dick van Dyke's accent brings on an initial (hysterical) euphoria, but it quickly induces feelings of nausea. We were also made to sing that Chim - Chiminee crap at school when I was about 8. I've never recovered. |

But Andy, a sweep is as lucky as lucky can be! Well, the movie has strange psychedelic episodes that I just can't account for. It's got to be at least three hours long.
As you drive through Pickles Gap, there's an ad for a chimney sweep on top of a barn in a meadow. In silhouette against a plywood moon, you can see little feet sticking out of a chimney. Underneath the logo reads, "I'll even dance on your roof." Almost makes me sad that our chimney has been permanently sealed (because of bats--don't ask!). Who wouldn't want the huge insurance liability of someone dancing on their roof? |

A peach?! Are you insulting me? I am absolutely nothing like a peach! More of a soft ripe cantelope if you ask me. I would have even accepted a tomato, but definatelty not a peach! I will let you off clean this time but in the future choose your fruits more carefully. Jeez, a peach......I can't believe that.....a peach...wow, unbelievable.....
