1) What exactly is the deal with "The Shrimp Song"? Has he ever played it before 2001? Is it a cover, or a Frank original? I'd love to see it wind up on an album.
2) How many Frank Black videos have there been? Can anyone give descriptions of them? Are they available for download anywhere?
3) Was there a reason given for not turning out any singles from the two new albums? I'm in desperate need for some b-sides, I am.

he's done 4 videos that are available on the net, on rollingstone.com you can see the videos for Los Angeles, Hang on to Your Ego, Headache (the best one) and Men in Black. No videos for the first two FB and the C's, though in Europe they shot a low budget video for Robert Onion that I haven't seen. |

"the shrimp song" was written by the songwriting team of bennett and tepper (not our friend morris..) for, i believe, elvis presley to record. elvis never did record it - in fact, the only commercially-released recording of the song is by townes van zandt from the posthumously released live album "abnormal". since this is the only extant recording, i believe the FB is covering van zandt when he plays "the shrimp song" - and FB's addition of the song into his live repertoire on the 2001 tour stands to reason as well, as "abnormal" was released in 1998.
hell, who knows? maybe he will record it - it is a bit of a one-off, though, isn't it?

I get the feeling Frank has been listening to Townes - Valentine and Garuda even sounds like a Townes title (let alone the music) |

I LOVE IT! Now we've had John Prine, Steve Earle, and Townes van Zandt references on this board in the last month. It can't get any better than that. -FranknWeezer |
