All,
I was just looking over the FTP site and was pleased to see the Pixies videos on there. I also read that bootlegs (non-public) videos are not welcome. I have something that is copyrighted material and want some opinions.
I was looking through alot of VHS video tapes and found an old Late Show w/Dave Letterman where the Pixies are the musical guests. Black Francis, and Joey and on guitar, Kim is playing an acoustic guitar and Dave is sitting on a stool playing maraccas. The Letterman Band with Paul Schafer is playing the rest! Including a trick keyboarding part thanks to Paul and a 2nd guitar solo from the Letterman Band. Is this something that I should record into digital video? If this has already been done, please point me to where I can get this clip. It's a fantastic version of Trompe Le Mode. And Dave introduces the band and tells of the new album (Trompe Le Mode) on "The popular CD format" as he states. :) |

Ok, well the responses so far sound positive. I have no means to record off my VCR onto a computer, so I'll have to bug my friend to do so. I'll keep the forum updated. |

If anyone's interested, I have an excellent Hi-Fi VHS Pixies compilation that I put together myself a few years back which includes this great clip among many others that I've since discovered to be extremely rare. There may be many of you in the FB community who have them (I'm relatively new to this and other internet forums), but most fans I know are blown away by some of the stuff. It is primarily derived from US/European/Japanese broadcasts, but there's a few humdingers on here that'll crack you up.
I'm going to be out of town for a few weeks, but after the first of the year, I'm going to make 15 NTSC-format dubs of this anthology and will gladly swap them for rare Pixies/FB-related video I do not already have. While the sound and picture quality varies, everything is at least good and most is excellent considering the rarity and age of the source material.
Feel free to e-mail me your trade lists or direct me to websites that list your collections. If you send me a list, make sure it's in the body of an e-mail as my girlfriend's old Mac can't read most enclosures.
Thanks to everyone out there for helping to make Frankblack.net more intelligent, mature and promising than it could very easily be.
