Does anyone know what Kim Deal thinks of Frank's solo work?
Are there any comments from Frank about The Breeders' work? |

a question is asked - should not be dispelled immediately, for the the sake of politeness or something. Free will/speech is what it's all about. Let's continue the good tradition without fear or pride. speak. if you heard something. |

In an article earlier in the year which I still have somewhere, and could put on the forum if I ever find the damn thing (background to the Pixies documentary screened in the UK) Kim said that Frank was the most talented individual she had ever met. The article was really funny - the interviewer had a tough time with Kim who referred to him as 'you bitch' or 'you fucker' before asking him to dance - they were in her fave bar |

It would be interesting to hear Kim cover a Frank song... Maybe 1826 - It seems like it could fit into her music. |

I think it would be interesting to know if Kim Deal bought all of Frank Black albums the day they hit stores. If Kim Deal starts posting here, maybe that will be a hint that she loves Frank's solo stuff.
Personally, I am not a big fan of Kim Deal.

Might be futile territory here kids...does anyone really know? Sure you hear this or that, but, I don't believe it to be overly credible. They are both pretty talented why not leave it at that?
To quote Mr. Black "You have no idea what I think of Kim Deal or anyone else for that matter".

I'm not trying to start a fight or dig up the same old Pixies rivalry bullshit. I just thought someone might have read something. I'm curious about their artistic opinions beyond any tension they might have had while in the band. I like them both and think Kim Deal was an integral part of the Pixies. She's a great bass player and her voice added a interesting dimension to the music. Last Splash and Pod are great records. Artistic admiration has nothing to do with whether or not someone likes the person personally.
If you still think the question is futile then kindly move on, but not before kissing my ass. |

I will look out the relevant article (see above) again. I think 'the most talented individual I have met' is quite positive. But do I have to kiss your ass? |

i think it's a valid question.. i'd be curious to know too.. obviously, we can never really know, UNLESS she's flat out said "I hate him" or whatever..
i'm sure they're both mature enough that, whatever ill feelings there may have been, they've been pushed by the wayside.. like, if Frank happened to hear a new Breeders song (i'm sure he ain't buying the stuff) he might kind of smile to himself and fondly think, "that little crack whore is still writing music"..
just kidding..
really though.. i like Title TK myself, and the Breeders show i went to this year still stands as one of the best..

I found the article - it is from Mojo magazine, March 2001! It is excellent, but very long. There is a website: www.mojo4music.com - but you seem to need to subscribe to the site to access old articles. A few quotes from the article: Kim talking about Frank: 'the most talented man I have ever met, or ever will meet'. Frankus himself: 'you realise, i'm not really friends with these people... we should have stopped after Doolittle'. Joey explaining the guitar sound on Trompe le Monde: ' no-one was talking by that point, but we were still trying to impress each other through the NS10s YAmaha speakers) - that's how we communicated'.
It is a great article, up to the point where it describes the first two Catholics albums as being 'fairly tedious'. But I cannot find a Michael Bolton reference anywhere. |

I'll try to scan it - if that fails maybe I should just send it to Mr Noisy and he can decide what to do with it (it is about 10 pages long -including pictures). It is very good, mostly because it interviews all of the Pixies, Eric Feldman, Chas Banks etc |

That article is truly precious. Great interview, I like the opinion of Ivo Watts (4ad Boss) about the end of pixies: 'it all changed over night'
That's what really happened I guess...
Mojo Magazine is one of the best (no they ARE the best) music magazines in the world.

This article exists online, scanned, in the files section of the Yahoo Group "Planet of the Pixies", link below. You may have to join the group (free), but that's no big deal and not such a bad thing anyway. Nice article, as all have noted. - Mel

This is off-ze-topique, but I think Amps' 'Pacer' is better than 'Last Splash'. |

This is the bloody article that made me think about the possibility of a Pixies Re-union for 2002's festival season... It wasn't to be!
