So is Shazeb Andleeb a real guy? It really seems like an anagram, although of what, I don't know. In one recording Frank says Shaz attended the high school from which Frank graduated. If he is real, what, specifically occurred?
So "Skeleton Man" is about the Mayas. But can anyone thoroughly explain its lyrics for us? I have italicized what could be specifically explained. (pasted from an unreliable source):
i'm a skeleton i'm a skeleton man hold my skeleton hold my skeleton hand i met a child in the hills from the people of the corn it's been 800 years since this child was born and in his ribs i found a pearl an offering from the corn world
hold my hand we'll walk in the hot sun hold my hand in the hot sand down in the valley where there used to be the farms Doctor Digger found a room full of arms and now there's just a dog that barks chained to a one-man trailer park
Basically, I am wondering what ARE the things mentioned above? What significance do they have relating to the ancient civilization? I figured Dr. Digger could be a slang english translation of the name of a hispanic archaeologist, perhaps. Like "Cavador" or something. And "room full of arms" could be like Ed Gein or it could be like the subject of "Bullet," which could fit because "in his ribs i found a pearl" brought to mind the image of a ball or a bullet, or a spearhead I guess. Or was there a mummy discovered recently that might fit all of the above criteria? Like a little kid who was sacrificed at the altar after swallowing a pearl.
Love,
Charlie

Shazeb Andleeb is a real guy, a true story...he was a foreign exchange student (from Pakistan) who was beaten to death by a group of kids from his highschool (Narbonne...same high school as Charles Thompson). It was because of some party or something...he invited them or didn't invite them or something...very tragic story. Do a search on the net for the name for more details.

I found this quote on the web:
"The high school football team, which I was believe it or not, too small to play for.. I was real little then. They were called the Gauchos after the Argentinian Gauchos because, of course, the high school was called Narbonne High School after Narbonne, France. And I got a song here about a young Pakistani student who also went there, much later in time than I did. His name was Shazeb Andleeb, I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right, but it's too late now." - Frank introducing the song on stage, 9/96

i dont think i can explain it all word for word, but my overall impression is that FB is contrasting the old world with the new (it might not help but i think it sets the tone), while at the same time expressing his awe and appreciation for the art of Archaology/Anthropology.
