OK, at the Atlanta in-store show I had a chance to ask the Man himself, "when are you coming to Florida?". He says that they'll be here in March. I saw here somewhere a couple of us were asking about this topic so I thought I'd pass it on. I guess it means we'll get some more East Coast shows too.
2003 is going to be a good year.

Wow, very interesting. Perhaps maybe he'll just be doing a tour of the south?

Maybe a ten-day stand in Toronto this time around. They can be our monthly residents at the Horseshoe. Actually heard a rumour that another album may be released early in the new year with a spring/early summer tour to be scheduled for the ease coast and then off to Europe for the close of the summer. Maybe then he will do some wandering?

He's apparently developed a taste for catfish so a southern tour is not out of the question.

Oh, come on... still no European tour dates... I hope you guys won't just do the summer festivals. Oh well, if another US tour means more bootlegs, it's better than nothing.

In this weeks issue of Blender magazine there is an article with Spanish Teenie Boppers Las Ketchup. They are HUGE PIXIES FANS!
Also Austrialian teenie bopper Rob Levitt has a song called "PIXIES" on his last albums. One of the lyrics is "FRANK & KIM WOULD NOT BE LEADERS/SO KIM DEAL STARTED THE BREEDERS
Also, there's a band on Grand Royal Records called LADIES WHO LUNCH, they have an album call KIMS WE LOVE and they do all PIXIES covers.
Also, Post-Grunge rock group from Memphis called HAGFISHES have a song called "FRANK BLACK". One of the lyrics is "CHANGE YOUR NAME FROM CHARLES to BLACK/ PLAY YOUR GUITAR AND DON'T LOOK BACK"
You can buy any of these album at your local Record Shop

Jim Cactus what's the deal with spamming this same message into multiple threads? Do you represent the bands? |

March 17, Frank Black and the Catholics (and Scientific Phenomenalist David Lovering)will be playing at Common Grounds in Gainesville, Florida. If anyone plans to go, they better get tickets quick. I think it's like 10 bucks or so. They can only fit about a couple hundred people in there. cgcoffeehouse.com |

I'll be visiting my sister in FL the week Frank is playing there. (no coincidence!! )
She's been trying to get tickets for the 3/14 show at The Factory in Ft. Lauderdale, but hasn't been able to get through to them by phone or email. Has anyone here gotten tickets for this show? Is there something I should about contacting that place?
Help!! (please ) |

Alrighty, I tried to post once and it didn't work and I had to re-register... sooo.. I'm frustrated and angry and will probably wound choppy and robotic (and also frustrated and angry) because of it, but please bear with it!
I'm Alexandra, and I'm new. I'm a 19-year-old student and Frank Black fan (obviously).
Anyway, I live in Daytona, although I frequent my home in Miami (where I'm from) and I'm also trying to get tickets for the Cat's (I hope no one minds my abbreviation) appearance at the Factory in Ft. Lauderdale, unsuccessfuly. I already found out that the Gainesville tickets are sold out, according to the Common Grounds website, because I'd see them there if they weren't. I'd see them in Orlando, but I'm going to be with my 11-year-old neighbor on that day and I can't bring her with me. My only option is then Ft. Lauderdale, and I've heard that the Factory is a nice place.
Well, my boyfriend's friend is playing with his band at the Factory two days after the Cats, and I'm going to try to get any contact and ticket information from him. I'll post it all as soon as I get any. If anyone else finds any info., please post it, too.
I hope to see everyone here (that's in the area) at the concert and I wish everyone interested good luck with getting tickets. I can't wait and I'm giving up a day in Key West for it...

Thanks for posting that, Alexandra.
My sister couldn't get tickets using the info at Pollstar and the Metal Factory sites. (She's in Miami, I'm up in NYC). She just keeps getting taped messages from the club's phones (three different #s), with no helpful information. She even called the contact number for bands who intend to play there but just got a recording. Emails to them are 'undeliverable'.
I'll keep checking here to see if you or anyone finds something out. And of course I'll pass along any info I get.
What's the name of your BFF's band? Maybe we'll catch 'em too |

yea, good luck getting through to the factory. it's actually called the "metal factory", and the only shows they really seem to take seriously there is 80"s hair-band reunion shows (can you say winger?) you should have no problem getting tickets at the door...the show is getting zero promotion and will be strictly word of mouth. now about that upcomming dokken/warrant/ratt show... |

I bought the last three tickets at Uncle Sam's in South Beach for $16 a piece. They're really $13 (although they say $12 on the ticket), but there's a $3 surcharge per ticket if you charge them.
The news is that Uncle Sam's in Ft. Lauderdale has a few more. My friend lives fifteen minutes away and she's going to pick some up for me tomorrow and I'll pay her back. There is another place I know that has tickets, but I forgot the name. It starts with an "L," but I still think that tickets will be readily available at the door. I'm dying to go and I'm glad that, at least, I'm sure of it now. I think I just needed the security.
Anyway, my boyfriend's friend's band is Pygmy. I've only heard them a couple of times and I guess they're o.k., I'm not too familiarized with it. The kid is in another band with his own brother which seems, to me, to be much better. I dunno.
Well, I hope I see everyone there, maybe I'll wear something distinctive (although all of my clothes is pretty much in daytona.. wait, I know.. I'm wearing a fully sequined-front black tank top I brough :)) for the show so anyone who sees me will know who I am and maybe say "hi." It'd be great to meet some FB fans.

We just found out we could order tickets from Slammie Productions at slammie.com. Tix were $12, with a two buck handling charge for each. They will be selling them till noon tomorrow, the day of the show.
The opening act (Dave?) is supposed to start at 8:00 and Frank should go on around 12-12:30.
See ya there! |

grrr.. I wish I would've known that they may have been easier to get! Either way, I have mine and I'm quite happy.
Well, see you there, too... I'm going crazy in anticipation, so excuse me in advance if you see me jumping up and down in line driving people crazy.

The same woman answering the club's phone, who said Frank would go on around midnight, now says she doesn't know-- maybe 10-10:30... so ignore time advice above (and get over there!)

Wow.. the show was amazing!! Frank Black and the Catholics went on about 11:30. I'm so happy, and all my friends are happy that I dragged them along. It was so awesome. I know he gets pretty mad when people practically worship him and all, but he's an amazing musician, so what does he expect? I got my picture taken with him after the show (on my friends camera, and I'll post the picsas freaking soon as I get them), it was so freaking cool. Okay, I gotta' control my rambling; I hope everyone who went had as much fun as I did :)

Can anyone that goes to the Tampa/St. Pete show please post what Pixies songs they play? I went to the Ft. Lauderdale and I am interested in seeing if they play the same songs. In FTL they played: - Gouge Away - Crackity Jones - Mr. Grieves - Cactus - Where is my mind? - Nimrod's son
Thanks ...and by the way...the show in fort lauderdale was awesome! |
