Ok, I went to the Ft. Lauderdale show last night, and it was my first time seeing Frank Black, although I've been a fan of the Pixies and him for a long time. I have to say the show rocked and exceeded my expectations by miles. I was wondering if anybody that goes to the other Florida shows could post a setlist, or at least the Pixies songs that he played I just want to compare The Pixies songs he played in FTL were: -Cactus -Where is my mind? -Gouge Away - Mr. Grives - Crackity Jones - Nimrod's son
I was at the Ft. Lauderdale show also. It was also the first FB show for me (a long time P & FB fan too). I agree it rocked and It is great to see a performer of such considerable artistic talent put on such a incredible, energetic show. He looked really happy and into it and It came across to the fans. Fuck the major labels and arena shows. It was such an honor to be entertained by somone of Frank's caliber in a small intimate venue. I got the same list as you for the Pixies songs but was wondering if you (or anyone out there) got a complete set list?
i was at the st pete show last night (as well as the orlando show and both in-store acoustic shows preceeding). let me say off the bat that frank is very friendly and approachable nowadays. he taped a promo for my local radio show and played requests (!), posed for pics and answered questions at the in-stores.
as for the live shows - st pete was insane. i never thought i'd see moshing or stage diving at a frank show. i think the energy of the crowd really influenced frank (who was under the weather)and the band. they started playing heavy stuff when the crowd got crazy. as for the setlist, my buddy wrote it down and will post on his own. to answer the pixies songs question, heres my recolection:
monkey gone to heaven nimrods son holiday song cactus mr. grieves where is my mind gouge away crackity jones
but the highlight for me was when they played Sir Rockaby - i asked him to play it earlier at the in store (which he did). he seemed to enjoy doing it. they then incorporated it into their set that night - awesome.
next up for me is gainsville. (i think the band has received great crowds in florida for this leg - hopefully they'll make it a regular stop on future tours. FLA loves Frank!
