The band was in the city that killed Kennedy last night.

The show... Decent. It was my 8th time seeing the band and it was enjoyable though a bit marred by some bad sound AND way too expensive tickets ($18.50, there was plenty of room among the audience so I think the ticket price may have drove some people away).

The Pixies marathon starting the show got on my nerves a little (I'm not one of the 'Pixies are Gods' folks), but "Nimrod's Son" had a nice edge to it.

My favorite moments of the night were the new songs. We got at least 5. That "there goes Nadine" tune is quite a stomper.

Other than Frank intro'ing everyone in the band, not a word was spoken to the audience. I liked that.

Frank's western shirt kicked ass. So did Rich Gilbert's red suit. Bill Paxton should play Dave McCaffrey in the movie.

And maybe David Lovering's magic act began and ended really early, because I missed him (and I only got to the show at 10. Did he not go on at all?).

What was played (not in order, going by the albums):

Usual Pixies stuff, with "Where is Muh-Mind" (that's the way Frank sang it) opening. 7 or 8 songs.

- Frank Black
nuthin'

- Teenager with a Beer
nope

- Cult of Ray
I think Frank forgot he made this album

- & the Catholics
not a thing

- Jagged Little Pill
not a Frank Black album

- Pistolero
"I Want Rock n Roll" (maybe the most rockin' song of the night)

- Dogg in the Sand
"Robert Onion"
"Bullet"
"Hermaphroditos"

- Devil's Pornshop
"Heloise"
"Velvety" (last song of the first set, I believe)
"Whiskey in Your Shoes"

- Track Lesion Days
Cold Heart of Stone (first non-Pixies song of the night, if I'm remember correctly)
Jane the Queen of Love
California Bound
Black Letter Day (also very rockin')
How You Went So Far
Southbound Bevy
The Farewell Bend (opened up the encore)
Black Rider (last song of the night, and the only cover)

and the 5 new ones.

I saw Frank for the first time last night, and I thought it was AWESOME. but then again, I have nothing to compare it too, AND i'm a huge pixies fan, but I really had no idea what to expect, so there was no way I could have been dissapointed.

Nimrod's son was amazing and I loved hearing bullet live. he played alot more songs than i could have asked for, and Tree's was the PERFECT place to see him becasue it's so upclose and personal. There isn't a bad seat in the house.

omg Rich Gilbert OWNZ that guitar.. he got so crazy I thought he was gonna steal the show from frank a few times =)

I thought 20 bucks was a really good price to see my favorite artist of all time. I paid almost 100 for beastie boys and Rage, 50 to see Tool (both times), Depeche mode tickets were ~70.00.

Come back to Dallas soon Frank!!!!!

Rich is a total freak! He did steal the show several times! I am currently working on the video footage I got recorded. I think just before they played 'Jane, the Queen of Love' some STAPH dude came up to me and said 'no typing tonight...' or some bullshit like that. So, I put my tail between my legs and stopped recording... I think I roughly recorded 1/3 of the ~2 hour show (hell - the encore was like 15 - 30 minutes!) I will also try to get out the song list though, due to my mostly drunken non-beabling to record state, I may not have a complete list. I am going to stop writing now so I can start another reply and add another tally to the score, to be that more closer to 100 while some of you out there are doing the same for 1000!
