Heh, you're a good man though I only offered your place (to myself) in jest. :)

Maybe we'll take 'ya up on it when the Catholics stroll through again. :)

So here's what happens: frankus blackus happens back by and says "we really need a good 50 tickets per venue reserved for these loyal FB.net guys," and then he pulls some strings, and then things occur. So they have the Amber alert system; is there some way to set up a "Pixies tickets just went on sale" alert system?

Americans stop moaning about the small number of tour dates in the US. Get a flight to Canada.... thats cheaper than getting a flight from China to UK to see the best band in the world. This is a test to see how much you love the Pixies.

Benji, aren't you considering a trip to London yourself, that would be me on the hardcore front.

ah, maybe i should change my location....

i have already moved to London from New Zealand, though seeing as i plan on moving back within a year, i didn't think i'd bother changing it to the "UK"

so no 30000km trip for me - instead (if i can nab some tickets from thin air) a 20-minute bus ride to Brixton.

so, you still definitely win Stuart.

How freakin'lucky is this for Winnipeggers? All you east-coasters better just stay where you are, though (I don't want you stealing all the tickets)

Does anyone know what will most likely be the most effective way of getting a ticket for the Winnipeg show? Ticketmaster?

ha! you know, if i wasn't working i would probably go a little crazy. but that will prevent me from seeing excessive shows (which i'd like to).. when i had my obsessed fan dynasty back in 2002, i was unemployed for quite a while.. now it's time for someone else to take up the helm.

i am considering flying to the Spokane WA show though.. who all's going to be there? i'll probably fly in that Saturday and leave the next day.. are there any all night casinos or strip clubs there so i don't have to get a hotel room? just kidding.. sort of.

I'm not much of a post-er. I usually just read. But I just have to get in on such great news! I can't beat Stuart's trip around the world, but I'm just realizing the actual posibility of only taking a single week off work, to fly from Texas to SK Canada and be able to see all of the tightly clustered shows from the 17th to the 25th. But even if I just see one show in such an intimate venue, I'll be a happy man. Kromkamp, thanks for posting the venue sizes.

Go for it mate, it will be worth it. I have no choice, last year I flew back to Britain then Denmark to see Metalicca, Iron Maiden and QOTSA (only really like QOTSA)... so if I didn't fly back to see Pixies that would be stupid.

yeah, they sold out pretty quickly.
not as quick as on saturday.
wayahead in 25mins
stargreen in 70mins and ticketweb a little longer.
but the latter 2 had major server problems, so thats why....

i managed to get tickets for fri and sat, but when everything settles down, i'm gunna try to swap them for wed and thur ones cause my mum is coming over from NZ and a sister from New York for that weekend, and kinda wanna spend some time with them - annoying as that will be.

Ive not organised my flight back yet, probably should look into that soon. I reckon it'll cost me about 500 quid to fly back home at the end of May. But I'm gonna try and save enough to bring my wife back over as she hasn't seen my family and friends for about a year.... Mind you they are coming over for our wedding ceremony in August, but still it will be nice for her to see England in the summer. I took her home last winter and she didn't like it very much, not surprised really as the UK in the winter is a tough place to live.

I'm not too worried about the cost though, as I'd always regret it if I missed this chance to see my favorite band.

well, it's fairly dedicated stuart.
but certainly agree with you re: UK winters.....
when we moved over to London, we stupidly went from winter to winter, which was an insanely stupid idea.

the most i ever spent to get to a gig was back in NZ, when Sleater-Kinney played 2 shows in Auckland, whereas i lived in Christchurch, which is on the other island...
so i flew up and stayed for 4 days - very handily the band played 2 nights, and absolutely loved it.
Cost me around NZ$500 all inclusive which is nothing in £, but i was a student then with no income, but i found it somewhere....

but it wasn't really a decision i really dwelled upon, i would have kicked myself if i had not done it.

I think I may aim for one of the Vancouver shows as my primary target. If sale dates don't happen before Saturday, then guess I'll still have to shell out some dough for Coachella as a fail-safe. My wife still thinks that I should aim for the -first- show in Winnipeg. But I'd hate to get stuck with seats on a balcony.

So I bought my contingency plan Coachella ticket today. 75 bucks sure turns to 90+ bucks fast... But I'm stoked! Can't wait til the warm-up show sale dates are announced.
