I dont want to turn this place into a broken-record store, but I'm starting to get freaked outta my head. I live in Ireland but this is the first summer that I wont be in the country, moving (irony of ironies) to Boston for six months, @ end of march. Since discovering the Pixies, about 10 years ago in my brothers' casette collection, I've been a serious nut, spreading the good news to my uncultured (through no fault of their own) friends. They now think its hilarious that the Pixies are playing Dublin when I won't be around. I thought that because I'm going to Boston I'd be safe enough, "They gotta play Boston, right?" Now, as more dates are announced, I'm not so sure. Unfortuanately I will neither be able to afford or get the time off to travel to the western dates. I've seen FB&TC a couple of times here but I gotta see the pixies. GOTTA!! I consoling myself at the moment with this thought: There is 4 weeks between Coachella and Brixton. Surely they won't like go on holidays or something. Eastern dates are surley on the cards. Right??? Is this a reasonable assumption?!
Noooooo, my child, this is not my desire...... |

It is reasonable, and I entirely suspect they'll make their way east. I think Boston's still a safe bet.

I think it's probably reasonable to think that there may be more US dates after Coachella, or after Europe. I'm bummed that Coachella is my ONLY option, but I'm glad that I at least have an option.

thats a pretty small looking tour. the UK has three gigs (and one next door in dublin), and the whole of the USA gets four and a festival?! Is this a warm up tour to a bigger US tour after the Europe tour?
Best of luck hunting tickets for those!! Lets hope the touts/scalpers don't ruin your chances like they did mine for Brixton. |

Holy crap that is a weird tour. I dont know whether to laugh or cry - laugh because I'm canadian and we're getting 8 of the 12 dates, or cry because its goddamned hard to drive across Canada to see most of these shows (and none in Toronto or Montreal!)
Is there any chance at all these dates are just a big goof?

Two other thoughts:
1)Winnipeg is not exactly the North-west coast (where Frank said the tour would be starting at the DIY convention). WTF?
2)Tell me he's not at least going to play 'Manitoba' at the first show. |

I'll assume that if I can get extra tickets for the Davis show that someone will want them. This has made and ruined my day. I can't stop thinking "how am I going to get tickets".
Davis is way south of Eugene, which contradicts what was said at DIY. |

Thanks Sean, I think we have all those dates posted elsewhere, though none of them are confirmed (at least over here) yet.
Kromkamp, nope, those dates are official. Winnipeg hosting the first show has been pretty clear (though not 100% confirmed) for a while and they are on the official press release as well as being backed by FB.Net's "Official Source(tm)". Us westerners got to have some fun now and again, too!
Floop, if you're planning on hitting Saskatoon, let me know.

i can't fucking believe how lucky you Canadian motherfuckers (pardon my french) are.. Jesus christ.
darwin- yeah, i don't know why he didn't mention Davis at DIY. someone asked him when we'd get to see him in LA and he mentioned that the Coachella people wouldn't like it if they played around here so close to the Coachella date. and the only thing he threw out there as an offering was Eugene, OR. he was like, "well, we're playing Eugene"..
anyway, i may try to make Davis and cult_of_frank.. all kidding aside, i may try to make the Saskatoon date, which might work better for me because it's on a Saturday.. and how much can airfare be to cold-ass Canada these days?

How long does it take to drive from Toronto to Winnipeg? Its either that or Jetsgo...
Does ticketmaster.ca cover the whole of Canada when you do a search or is it localized like ticketmaster.com is?
(Can you tell this is occupying 100% of my time this afternoon now? )

SPOKANE!!!! They are playing Spokane but not Seattle!!! That fucking rocks!
I can't believe how lucky I am. I feel kind of guilty knowing that there are lots of people who would be willing to drive 4-6 hours for the show but won't have the chance, and I'll be driving 4-6 minutes.
I really doubt that Spokane has enough Pixies fans to fill the venue, so I expect we'll be getting lots of people driving from Seattle, Idaho, Montana, etc...
Good for Spokane, Great for me!!! |

I just called Red's (Edmonton venue) and ticket information is expected in one week's time. As far as the size of the place, I can't imagine they could fit more than 1000 in there, but that's just a guess. I forgot to ask if it's going to be all-ages; if it's not my little bro will be crushed!

I called the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg today and was told that they have no idea when tickets go on sale but she told me to call back in a few days and they might have a better idea. |

I've never been to Reds, I've only heard it has a capacity of 1500-2000 people, so you could very well be right.

I've been to Red's on a number of occasions but I'm pretty much just guessing myself. For shows where it seemed absolutely packed I heard later there were 800 people. The whole facility could probably hold a couple thousand or so, but for shows they close off the stage area with curtains; that area becomes much smaller. Red's has a restaurant, an arcade, a pool hall, a bowling alley - it's pretty much a place geared toward thirteen year olds with money, just like the rest of West Edmonton Mall. Still though, many great bands play there when they come to town, so I can't hate it too much!

holy shit! i can't believe they're starting off the tour in winnipeg. what a lucky mother fucker i am. i was pretty excited when i saw the news posted. but then i saw the date and my heart dropped. my wife's taking me to mexico the exact same week and everything is already booked. no shit. talk about a real high then a real low in a matter of seconds. oh well. at least my friends will be pretty excited to see the show. i'm trying to change the flight on the way back to stop in calgary and see the show on the 19th in cowtown. that would be cool.
the theatre in winnipeg seats about 2,000 and has pretty good acoustics.
