tell me about it. if i see one hoodie there, well....it should be ritualistically burnt or something.
i hope they add more dates, and i hope frank reads all about the bastards on ebay and gets them sorted out somehow.

Not for long...
Well, if Frank and the rest of the band had any doubts that people would be up for the reunion then this morning's chaos has put that to rest!!
I repeat. I'm convinced that other gigs will be announced.

i can't believe i was trying to get tickets from the dot of nine and still didn't manage it
ticket web suck big time! i even got as far as the make payment button, it just wouldn't load the page after that, then i got through on the phone, to be told the system had crashed but they hadn't sold out yet, then must have got on ticketweb within seconds of it working again, only to find it had sold out.
i can't believe how crap this is
fingers crossed for glasto

i can see the predicament that all those bastard ebayers are in: do they set their auction to end in 1 day whereby they might not get maximum price for their tickets, but then if more dates are announced after they've sold their 1-day tickets, the cocks who set it as 10-day will be fucked.
ah, what a conundrum they face.
i'm mad, i'm mad, i'm mad.
ps, i hear ya mishkabunney, the exact same thing happened to me.

when you got through to the guy one the phone you should have asked him to write your card number on a piece of paper with a real pen. People in call centres seem to be devoid of common sense.

Let this be a lesson to those in other countries who have yet to experience this crushing disappointment.
I'm also hoping for a glaso appearance but lets face it, the soung at festivals is crap and the experience will be no where near as good as seeing them at a smaller venue.
However, it is better than not seeing them at all! |

I've just emailed Ebay customer support - probably fruitless, but if no-one comlpains then we know nothing will ever change, so if you ca nbe bothered why not drop them a line? Here's mine:
Subject: #2223807216, #2223809426, #2223809752, #2223810108, #2223810783 etc
What's Ebay's position on ticket touts using Ebay to re-sell concert tickets? I think this is pretty sick - all of the above (and more) are tickets for The Pixies at Brixton Academy. These went on sale at 9am this morning and sold out within 30 minutes; many of these sales it would seem were to ticket touts aiming to sell at grossly inflated prices on Ebay, as they appeared instantly on your site.
If this is not illegal, it's pretty immoral at the very least, and not something I should think Ebay would want to be associated with. These are the same guys that hang around concert venues fleecing real fans at sold out events, not people selling items they've inadvertently acquired an excess of.
Perhaps you are not interested in the ethics of such trade, but I really think you should be.
Toby
PS I actually do have tickets, but I still feel strongly enough about this to raise it with you. I think it's disgusting behaviour that you should be discouraging. |

I really feel washed out right now, I want to cry or puke or scream or something but I feel totally drained after this morning. I want to sue ticket web for mental anguish.

actually... we're not allowed pens or papers in the call center. because we could be writing down your credit card numbers. we're not allowed to write down numbers, for obvious reasons... and as they're using the very same system the people trying the online booking were, chances are when it all came back up they wouldn't have had chance to book them anyway, especially as they'd be on a different call and have to deal with that first... common sense really. :)
let's not start laying into my call-center chums guys... ticketweb, fair enough... but the people on the other end of the call are just dudes and dudettes like me, mostly students, who are forced to work a shitty job so they can afford to go to uni...

nice one! thanks, saved me the bother, although i might do too just to re-enforce how annoyed we are with the touts.

Gracie, I'd love to help you (and everyone else) out, but I only have two and I think I'm the only one of my (many dyed-in-the-wool, authentic 1980's Pixies fans) friends who got any :-(
Sick isn't it? I can see around 60 tickets on Ebay at the moment and I'm sure there'll be more. Oh well, I'm sure people like XFM and 6music will have plenty for competitions and stuff, and I'd be very very surprised if they don't add at least one more London date. And if they play Glasto that will be awesome. |

Cheers (!), even if it's just a circle ticket, I think I'll suffer!
Quite why ticketweb make this the default option, who knows?
Anyway, if they announce Friday or Saturday tickets, I'll make sure a) I'm around, b) Check several ticket sites at once, and c) Make sure I select the 'Standing' option!

they really are all gone. i spoke to my mate who is working there today... he very helpfully said "you should have given me your details, i could have got some for you" - yeah, thanks mate, like i knew ticketweb was going to go down and tickets would be gone in a matter of minutes...

Are you allowed to remember them, or do you have to submit to hypnosis at the end of a shift?
I agree though, criticise TicketWeb, not those on the phones -- I do a similar job for BT (eewwww), but it's pretty funny that you aren't allowed pens and paper!

Hey, I work the shittiest job of all picking and packing thermal underwear, but I still think most call centres are staffed by cretins. Either I sound uncomprehensible or you guys just can't spell!! Sorry bee boy, I don't mean to tar you all with the same brush ;)

heh, well we have a notepad like thing open on our screens to make notes on, it's just pens and paper we're not really allowed... to stop us from taking your numbers on a shopping spree... i'd be impressed if someone did manage to memorize all the credit card details after a 6 hour shift, taking abuse from people over service charges with hardly any breaks... not the best job ever, which is why i'm slightly defensive at the mo!
i didn't get tickets either, and ticketweb stinks. but pays well.

You didn't get ticket?, isn't that a perk of the job being first in line. I've actually been considering giving up my legal career to work at Wayahead if it'll get me pixies tickets to the next Brixton gig, (there will be one won't there Frank?) |

kinda, but you have to be working really, like i said my mate might have been able to get me a couple, but i didn't think what happened would have to be honest... and it's debateable if i'd have got any anyway with the speed they went and the system problems. like i've said, they use exactly the same web system over the phones... so they'd still have to be pretty quick about it. can't buy them before the on-sale time... bit gutted. and feel like a bit of a chimp for not getting my mate to have a go at 9 for me.

I think Frank and co probably deserve some criticism for this. You can't reform a band like the Pixies and not do it right; playing the whole of Europe for the lengthy period of 3 months (with 2 whole gigs in the UK) and the whole of the US and Canada for less... and playing second fiddle to Red Hot Chi-- (no, I can't finish it). What were they thinking?
I'm going to T in the Park to see them, but I'm nowhere near as enthusiastic about that as I would be for a proper Pixies gig.

agreed. seems they're playing manchester, but supporting the rhcp's... i don't get this? if they had the time to tour, why not headline their own tour? was it too much hassle to organise? or would they not have made as much money that way?
we should have a big t in the park meet up! :)

I think you'll find Brixton Academy holds 4700 people. It's a big venue. |

I know Johnathons not into this idea but given the craziness of this morning does anyone else think they might move it to a bigger venue? Brixton sounds cosy, but there's obviously a lot more money to be made elsewhere.

Well I've been CHARGED FOR THREE TICKETS and I only meant to order ONE.
Damn Ticketweb made me input my details too many times because the server couldn't handle it.
Here's the best part... I haven't had a single confirmation email or code. And Ticketweb claim not to have a record of a transaction!!!!
