it's irrelevant that they're selling them for a killing....

however, there might be something in the fact that they don't actually have the tickets yet....

i'm quite sure tickets normally say 'not for resale' on them... and i was looking at the legal aspects over the weekend and i was pretty sure it was against ebays policy as well... heck, they're selling tickets that they may not actually have pocession of until 7 days before the gigs... if the tickets get lost in the post the only alternative (for seated tickets) is to have them put on the door for you, and the only person they can be put on the door for is the person who bought the tickets... and then to collect them you need to have the credit card used to buy the tickets with you to prove your id... (which thinking about it doesn't have much relevance here as they were all unreserved, but still...)

i'd be very wary about buying gig tickets off e-bay. the seller may well and probably is genuine, but there's an awful lot that can go wrong.

yes i totally agree bumbleboy....
i can just imagine someone thinking this a great way of making a quick buck pretending that they've got tickets, when they really don't....

what recourse could there be if some unscrupulous person did such a thing?
i'd imagine if you were a but clever about how you set ut up etc, not much...

Yep, just called em.

"We're still looking into it".

Pathetic. I can't get my money back because they "have no record". But they've already taken the money?!?

Just raise a dispute with Barclaycard (or whoever your credit card company is) saying that it's an unauthorised transaction. I know it doesn't get your tickets but at least you get your money back.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. Just checked my statement online:

02/07/04 02/07/04 TICKET WEB LTD Other T&E $215.40
02/07/04 02/07/04 TICKET WEB LTD Other T&E $215.40

In their defense, it must be hard (and expensive) to develop a system that works properly under this kind of load. But I'm still surprised this still happens in 2004...

i never realised the US dollar had fallen so astronomically!

but really, i don't think thats much of a defense shooz....
if they're not up to stratch then they shouldn't be in the ruddy business...especially considering the outrageous "service charges" they get away with....

Christ, I'd better check my credit card. I had assumed that my request to buy 4 tickets hadn't got through.

Nope. No record of the transaction. Ticketweb need to take a close look at their systems. If I owned the company heads would roll.

My mums account has been debited 4 seperate times to the value of £57.50 each time. I promised before hand to take full responsibility if she lost anything, :(

Well, fuck me, I've been charged, too, despite the tickets being sold out -- £227!!! Unsurprisingly, I can't get an answer on the phone. This outfit is completely incompetent.

I just got off the phone with them. They told me to go to http://ticketmaster.custhelp.com/, create an accout, and submit my question. You may want to do the same.

I was also charged twice by ticketweb to the tune of £227. I rang up and after waiting for ages the woman on the phone clarified the position. They have created a list of people who were charged but did not recieve confirmation. The way she explained it was that those people who were charged but did not recieve confirmation may in fact have tickets reserved. She could not guarantee that I have tickets but they will sort through the list and check. If those who have been charged have actually reserved tickets they will recieve however many they ordered (up to 4) and get a refund on any over charge. Those who did not get tickets should recieve a refund but it will take some time. She said that they were assessing each claim and would get back to me by the end of the week.

They will have to give refunds to those who have proof that the company took money off them, while they might not have records we will have bank statements that say otherwise. All I can say is that if you have been charged you may yet have tickets and that you should have your money back. I wouldn't bother using the on-line service. Ring customer services on: 08700 600 100.

Hope this was of some help.

Yeah, I clicked charge a whole bunch of times in desperation, but I never got a confirmation e-mail or anything. The money has definitely been taken for four seperate transactions @ 9:08, 9:17, 9:28 & 9:43 :(

Yea ticket web told me the same thing.... but said there was a good chance that we would get our tickets...

"Those who did not get tickets should recieve a refund"

I thought Ticketwebs policy was no exchanges or refunds....

as far as i AM CONCERNED THEY ARE IN BREACH OF CONTRACT and should have this pointed out to them..

A contract of goods was enetered into when they accepted you money for the tickets you ordered..

I will be speaking to my soliciter about damages rsulting from their breach

I also got fucked over by TicketWeb and know at least one other person who has. I got charged to the tune of £340 (trying to buy 2 tickets for each night) and haven't had a single confirmation e-mail for any of these supposed 'transactions'.

At least we're not alone - if they start getting difficult we can coordinate our efforts to get our money back. However, I don't really see that it's in their interests to be difficult over this... they want their reputation to be maintained and if they offer us refunds for any tickets bought in error they're not exactly gonna have difficulty reselling them.

That still doesn't quite excuse the trouble we have been put to. We avid concert-goers seem to be viewed as easy victims for venues, ticket agencies and touts. We are crammed into tiny spaces, forced to wait for hours outside venues, liberated of vast amounts of cash in the name of 'service charges' and the like, until finally, in sheer desperation, we are compelled to buy tickets for our beloved bands at extortionate amounts of money from those leeches who exist solely to deprive us of our hard-earned cash. We really do deserve to be treated better.

But this particular episode takes the proverbial piss. I, for one, am a student. I'm not particularly poor, but I'm not made of money either. To have this amount of my month's budget removed from my account with nothing to prove that it has been received by Ticket Web, or that I will receive the tickets that I have paid for is a little worrying to say the least. If I wanted to get arsey about it, I'd say that I was entitled to compensation for wasted time and money spent on the phone (which I notice is an 0870 number - complaints lines really should be free to call!). But as it stands I'll be content to get the tickets I had originally intended to purchase plus a refund for the others; or, failing that, simply a refund for the lot.

I really hope Ticket Web can come good over this fiasco - having said that, even if they do, I sincerely doubt that I will ever purchase tickets through them again!

well i initially thought i was not one of these victims of ticketweb cause nothing had appeared on my statement - actually my wife's....
but upon checking this morning, weird things are afoot.

the first 2 transactions recorded on my statement are paid in!
yes, thats right, firstly they paid into my account £173
then followed, however, are 4 transactions taking out a total of £346 pounds, so i have been left with a -£173 balace over the entire episide with no tickets to show for it.

what a debarcle!
