12 YEARS AGO TODAY!!!!!!!!!!
That's right it was 12 years ago today, Feb 5, 1992, at the Ritz in NYC. I took my them girlfriend, now wife, to our first concert. What a blast.
I never thought, after the breakup, that I'd have a real chance to see them again. I thought a reunion would never happen.
So, when was the last time you saw them LIVE?
p.s. not counting the news shows, if this thread lasts that long.

April 16, 1992. The Warfield, San Francisco. The next night they were playing Sacramento with U2. I chose to see them in SF as the headliner. |

February 28, '92 @ The Rock-it Club in Tampa, Florida. Small short-notice show on the night before the Zoo TV tour kicked off in Lakeland. BTW they rocked. |

April 25, 1992 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver - their last show (for now). They had played the night before and I was also there (had to spend my student loan money somewhere). A pretty standard show from what I can remember but would've never missed any of their shows regardless. See http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5225 - I've kept my ticket stub from that show. If they play in Vancouver this time around, and especially at the Commodore, I'm definitely flying back into town for that. |

November 20, 1991. The Boathouse in Norfolk Virginia.
Best concert I've ever seen. I see comments about how the Pixies aren't that good live...maybe on the Zoo TV tour or somthing, but at the Boathouse, damn. I got so dehydrated I missed a couple of the encores 'cause I had to leave the pit and get some water on my head.
I don't know how to describe a "slow mosh" - they started the show off with some semi-acoustic numbers, and when 'where is my mind' started around the 3rd or 4rth song, this really slow pogo mosh started up and it was so intense with everyone singing. I remember they ended the regular set with "Motorway" and trailed off with Feldman playing the keyboards as the band left the stage.
I know "Gigantic" was one of the encores, cause I was in the bathroom trying to cool down, going "Damn! I should be out there!"

4 October 1990, Manchester Apollo, UK.
Having previously seen them a couple of times at the relatively small Town and Country Club in London (probably the best two gigs of my life), I wasn't expecting much from such a large all-seater venue, but they were superb. I still to this day hate large venues (I didn't go to their Crystal Palace show for that reason) but if anyone can make it work, it's the Pixies. I am so looking forward to the Brixton shows. |

okay, can't recall the exact dates or venue, but it was july/august 1989 in boston and a few months later in montreal. at the boston show they played their stuff in alphabetical order. at the montreal show, the zulus opened (rich gilbert), a nice bonus (by the way, anyone have copy of the zulus album 'down on the floor' they want to share?).
i am not completely averse to the idea of a pixies reunion, i only hope they are willing to stake out new grounds musically. my gut feeling is that while we will get the old stuff, there will also be some new stuff that will surprise us all. |

Never. Being a (then) musically-dense pre-teen living in Greece didn't give me much of a chance for many good shows in that era, the Pixies included. |

And between the 1990 gigs Frank did a one off "plugged in" solo show at the Borderline in London........AMAZING I was in the last group of people allowed in on the door that night.....massive queue.........really lucky to get in.......GREAT SHOW!!!!

The first and last time was in Rennes (France) at the end of may 1991 . It was the beginning of the european tour for the release of the Planet of Sound single. I am so happy I am going to see them again, probably a good thing to go back to my 20's...

10/06/90, Guildhall, Preston, England
When the curtain dropped after Cecilia Ann the place went mental - I lasted two songs in the pit before retiring to a safe distance
Still contemplating getting down the front at Brixton. How much is body armour? |

16/10/90 - gloucester leisure center - nice to see how they had evolved from previous tours - debaser tour was the best atmosphere, but for the memories the throwing muses double header tour in spring 88 is head & shoulders above the others
this is why events unerve me |

Crap, reading all these posts is making me bitter again. I could have seen them openning for U2 but missed out. A friend in highschool had 2 tickets to see U2 and the person he was going to go with backed out at the last minute. He asked me if I wanted to go for free and my response was that U2 sucks and I'm not going to waste my time, not realizing that the pixies were openning up. He told me the next day with a shit eating grin and I was so pissed off. Of course a year later they broke up. I introduced my present girlfriend to the pixies when I first met her and she loves them. I was telling her the story of what happened one day when lamenting their demise and she told me she was at that show. She didn't know them back then though and was sitting with her friends saying when will this crappy openning band get off the stage so I can see U2. She got even more pissed off then I was realzing she was actually there but didn't even notice them. |

That was one of the biggest problems opening up for U2. Lots of people ignore the opening band. I didn't want to go because they were opening for U2. I'm still glad I didn't go, but at least I saw them twice before.
