Which one is your favorite? Pixies or Frank Black(& the catholics)?
I love Frank Black and some of his albums are included in my all time favorites. I went two times to Europe to see his concerts( total of 4 shows) and it was spectacular. But nothing can ever be compared to Pixies in terms of music. They are in another dimension. So, my vote is: Pixies!!! |

Frank, but I'm not a person who thinks the Pixies were the greatest rock band in history.
This subject has been discussed so many times on this forum. This topic should be locked.

Pixies, I'm afraid. But I love his solo stuff too. |

This topic shouldn't be locked; it's discussion of opinion, not fact, so how much it's been discussed in the past is kind of irrelevant (unless an identical topic was made last week). Also, there is a difference between asking whether you care for a reunion & which band you prefer listening to. |

Created 2 days... though it's in General FB chat and titled LIFE TO THE PIXIES so it's not the most obvious thread in the world. Plus I dunno how many people want to continuing posting after ebb vicious dissed everybody's favorite President.

Am I wrong or the people who doesn´t want to see the Pixies together again are those who actually prefer Frank Black solo career instead of Pixies? Or ,at least, thinks that they are in the same level?

It's like this: I am a fan of Charles Thompson, and the musical work that he does. I like it in whatever context he chooses to do it. I don't see the Pixies as being better or more special than his later work, I see their specialness as being more a function of time and place as much as anything else. The appeal of Charles' work in general is not limited to time and place and I see the same aesthetic at work in all of his music from 1986 to 2003. I have never particularly wished to see the Pixies reunite, and honestly would be a little happier if they hadn't, but yes, I will see them if I can. And, based on all the other news that's come out regarding Frank Black releases this year I see no reason not be optimistic regarding his continued artistic progression, and also I feel like I know the man's aesthetic well enough to trust that he would not get involved in a reunion in which he had no real musical interest. So I guess I would say the reunion just makes me a little uncomfortable. I'm not ecstatic and I'm not heartbroken.

I'm with you on that, anazgnos. I agree with you one-hundred percent. Yeah..that's a good way to put it...that we're "uncomfortable"...maybe that way we won't get bitched out by all of the other people...heh

Well said, anazgnos. Maybe I'm just old, but I've seen too many reunions that didn't turn out for the best. It's very sad to me to see people try to relive the past, or to try to experience something they missed out on. That's what makes me uncomfortable. |

Well personally I can categorically state right now that if I witness any reunion show I WILL NOT feel it is inferior to a FB&TC show.
The Pixies' songs are in a different league altogether for me and I can say that having gotten into both at roughly the same time. So I don't care what anyone else thinks anymore. If it happens then I will be happy. It may not live up to my expectations but I will still be happy, just you watch me!!! |
