Oh come on, climbing the ladders to get those letters, getting those little cherries to shoot fireballs (out of what?!). Classic.
A game I played and actually did enjoy thoroughly was Breakthru. Anyone?

Kinda like chess, right? My brother tried to teach it to me. I think we played a few times.

I think that was the later one, but there was also this game for the original NES:
I can't find any real screen shots. You basically drove a jeep from deep behind enemy lines (in the mountains) across a battered and war torn bridge (with sections missing which you had to hop and tanks all over the place) into mines, out through a city, and finally into an airport where you grab a jet and fly back home.

EDIT - I think this guy has it in his library: http://www.nealkendall.com/NES/Nintendo.htm |

I was thinking Space Invader, but that sounded a bit too non-consensual. |

I do/did like Karnov. I beat it once and was so disappointed at the "grande finale" ending. This is a cartoon I made a year ago expressing how I felt about this games ending....

Hahaha, sweet. Yeah, I can't really think of a Nintendo game that I thought had a good ending, but saying "Congratulations" or "The End" don't cut no turkey wit me.
Now I'm almost glad I didn't finish it.
