I have a theory that Solid Gold is about K.Deal...also, the Breeders tune 'No Aloha' seems like it could be about the Pixies split...did'nt FB inform the other members he was splitting the band by fax? Faith No More sacked a guitarist this way.

Of course. Every song Frank has written since the Pixies was in some way about them.

I thought Frank said it was about Road rage...driving on the 405 more specifically.

Never since I met you
Did you let me in
Even when I let you
You wouldn''t call me friend
Pedal to the metal
Mister, it''s a sin
Getting so down

I''d give you solid gold
Just for your finger
You get the medal
For getting so down

I guess you didn''t see that sky
When the clouds are turned to isles
I was glad when you couldn''t hear my
Nervous laughter when you shouted and cursed

I''m not saying I understand
Lord knows who can understand
Life can be an awful plan
And yours it ain''t the worst

Here she comes now
In my mirror
Oh, I know how
She is a terror
Now I see her
In her mirror
Wearing a frown

I give you solid gold
Just for your finger
You get the medal
For scariest frown

I guess you didn''t see that sky
When the clouds are turned to isles
I was glad when you couldn''t hear my
Nervous laughter when you shouted and cursed

Fourthly you''re suspect
Thirdly you don''t get
Secondly you''ve got no respect
Finally you''re not the first

The people that don't realize other people are on the road. Don't let you in...or have to pass everyone in still traffic. Flip people off and yell and curse...etc

Wow, that's funny, this song could actually be about road rage...the 'finger' is a very common way for one to express their feelings towards another driver.

Yeah, that sounds right...by the way, I do have a fine sense of irony but this is unfortunately coupled with a child-like naivity.

And I'm also very pretentious.

Road rage. Wow. It's weird when someone figures out the meaning and it seems so obvious afterwards.

Road rage is pretty scary. I had to go through my own little 12-step program because I was getting more and more competitive and aggressive when driving. I think road rage is very similar to Internet posting. People do and say things that they normally wouldn't, but there's that cloak of anonymity or sheet metal that removes the good judgment barrier.

Now, my only problem is that I can be somewhat passive aggressive behind the wheel. But I think laughing, giving the thumbs up, or blowing kisses to people is slightly better than the finger or mad shout.

I need to stop flicking people off for stuff that doesn't really matter. I've been followed twice because of it. So am I guilty of road rage or is the asshole following me the guilty one?
