Today's random song of the day is Don't Ya Rile 'Em.
What do you think of it?
lyrics I''m seeing how boring it gets Back where the sun never sets And a day is really two days
I was feeling so tired inside My eyes were stitched open so wide It was making me kind of uptight
Oh yeah All right And the power man says
Dont ya rile ''em Going asylum Tonight
I''ve been working my way back to sane It''s coming back to me again Old navigational ways
Back in time where I belong They're playing my favorite song That whistling meteorite
Oh yeah All right And the power man says
Dont ya rile ''em Going asylum
Tonight

I like this song - especially whilst driving down country lanes on sunny sundat afternoons. |

I remember reading about the meaning of this song, though I no longer remember what exactly that was...

This is what I love about Frank's stuff - nobody else would dare rhyme "rile 'em" with "asylum", still less draw attention to it by using it in the title! |

A real rocker, could have been on commercial radio

the song is about artificial light*.....and how after the sun sets everyone turns the lights on and we essentially get a second day durring the night.
* i really don't like the term "artificial" because light is light, right? anyway - i guess i mean light powered by electricity. |

It's a great song, the lyrics are great. As I've already mentioned somewhere, it is an average song for FB and it would be an exceptional song for someone else.
Now virtually everyone's singing a Pixies song / But I still believe in the excellent joy of Frank Black |

somehow one of my FB-all-time-favourites. i like it so much, i even recorded a cover-version, despite totally lacking musical talent. for me it is somehow an ultimate song for freedom and against ignorance and holding yourself back - "i'm seeing how boring it gets...", this always makes my day. it's a perfect beginning for this perfect song. and then "i was feeling so tired inside, my eyes were stitched open so wide" - this means a lot to me. i love it, i love it, i love it ! |

Brilliant song. The best of the album.
And Two Spaces is about artificial light, not this one. |

Great song. I love the acoustic solo version I've got on video, too. |

This is a great song...a lot of fun to play.

It's a nice kinda winding-down, end of the night, emotive, 'everybody's drunk' kinda vibe of a song. |
