Today's random song of the day is Whiskey In Your Shoes.
What do you think of it?
lyrics My friend is speechless Will you give him some wine? He lost his own son At the drag racing line Oh please tell us bartender What can he do? Cry some tears for your water And pour whiskey in your shoes
Nothing to do about it first you grab it Then you lift it then you pour it down
Go divorce papers And we put down the ink So tonight I won’t be having my usual drink Hey there bartender Can you make me something new? Cry some tears for your water I’ll pour whiskey in your shoes
Nothing to do about it first you grab it Then you lift it then you pour it down
Hey there bartender Can I owe you the cash? ‘Cause the end of the world Well it came in a flash And I know that tomorrow I’ll have some new excuse To cry tears for my water And pour whiskey in my shoes
Nothing to do about it first you grab it Then you lift it then you pour it down
Nothing to do about it first you grab it Then you lift it then you pour it down

This one is great fun for Karaoke!
It always stuck out as a highlight on DW but hearing it live just sweetens the deal.

A catchy, powerful song. My second favorite on DW, after 'His Kingly Cave'. |

Definitely one of the two best songs on DW. I love it.

this is the Frank Black song I'd most like to have heard Johnny Cash cover. |

decent song. i'd rank a few above it on DW (kingly cave, out of state, velvety, san antone, fields of marigold). actually, most of the songs on DW are better than Whisky in your Shoes. sorry, i am in the minority here. |

Great lyrics, but the tune is really bland and tired. It's one of my least favorite Frank and the Gang songs...

Agree with George42. It's my third least favorite track on DW. But it's still a pretty good song.

You probably have to be a drinker to get this one - I am, and I do. |

I hardly ever drink, and I'm not sure if I "get" the song, but I do enjoy it. Maybe about average DW fare for me, about on par with "Out Of State," "Bartholomew," and "Heloise," but not as good as "Velvety," "San Antonio, TX," "Modern Age," or "Are You Headed My Way?". I'm probably one of very few who would list those last two as among my favorite DW songs, though.

i drink my fair share, but i don't think that's exactly why i like the song.
there are quite a few drinking references in Frank's recent work.. which i appreciate. |

I love this song. One of my faves from the double release. Neil Young who?

I liked this song a lot more when I first heard, it's gotten kinda old after awhile, but I like the morbid feel to it, and I like the simplicity of it, and I think it's cool how the chords go up as "you grab and you lift it" and then go down "when you pour it down" |

I like the backing vocals in "pour it down"..it's very cool. I didn't like the song at first but I really like it now.
