Maybe I'm deluded, but it seems to me that Holland is a live-recording hotspot...a lot of bands seem to have live tracks(B-sides, etc.) or albums recorded there...there just seems to be a lot live recording....or maybe I'm talking out my arse...

That's because, like BBC radio sessions (how many band have a 'at the Beeb'-album?), we have lot's of radio stations who record bands for radio.

I actually worked in Holland for a while...it's got great CD and video shops, lots of rare stuff and imports. Free Record Store is pretty cool..i'm getting all nostalgic, now! Break out the frietsauce! Ik denk it vel!

free record shop is probably the worst record store on the planet but I admire your opinion

They drown their fries in mayonnaise, silly.
I reckon Japan is live album central: how many bands have a record called 'At Budokan'? I can think of Bob Dylan and Cheap Trick off the top of my head, but I know there's more.

Well, if you were in a band, would you not want to go where hash is legal??

The Netherlands is great for English-speakers, 'cos a lot of Dutch folks speak good English and they subtitle rather than dub...plus, they show a lot of US/UK shows. Not sure about George And Mildred, however, that's a bit of an unpleasant blast from the past.... "Ik kan niet spreckt goed Netherlands!" |
