I've noticed a common theme among these threads, and it seems to me that we're focusing way too much on whether or not WE would like the possibility of a reunion tour/new album. I just had a warm fuzzy thought about this massive crowd at Coachella waiting to see Radiohead when a band that some of them of vaguely heard of but never really heard takes the stage. They could be (should be, probably will be) blown away by it. I'm the youngest Pixies fan I know, personally, and I'm 23 years old. There are so many kids out there who never got to hear the Pixies. They've just heard Pixies-wannabes. I think if the Pixies are willing to give a whole new audience (lets face it, by now it is) a chance to revel in their greatness, hey, I dig it.

there will be plenty of Pixies fans in the Coachella audience. Aren't the Pixies actually headlining on the night they play?
If new material comes out of the reunion, I'd be extremely curious to hear it, but I think Frank's much too smart to turn out contrived new songs with Spanish lyrics about incest. Since they set the example, I think lots of musicians have come up with successful Pixies imitations. It's not a huge feat.
The best question isn't 'Can he still write as Black Francis?", but "Would he still write as Black Francis?"
And I think that's a 'probably not'.
