They could start with B-side 'The Thing' and play all their least-good songs...then, Frank and Kim could do a 'spoken word' section, with the little conversational excerpts from Surfer Rosa! Then they could take the money and run, leaving the audience in tears and emotionally scarred for life!

I couldn't give a sh!t which songs they play as long as they are their own in the main.
Worst songs??? I don't think I could name them. |

Probably Debaser
Though personally I think Rock Music would make a great opening!

I say "Rock Music" would be best as well. However it will most likely be "Debaser" or "Cecilia Ann". |

I think Velouria would make a hell of a kick off...

What?? Just because a particular song isn't your favorite doesn't mean you can't say it isn't worthy of true Pixies fans. In fact, for dismissing La La Love You as anything less than one of the pinnacles of Pixie achievement, I say that you are not a 'real' Pixies fan. (Not really, but I hope you see my point. None of their songs are any more or any less the Pixies)

Anyway, for the topic, I'd say open with River Euphrates. What other song can say with so much force that the Pixies have finally come back to us? |

It's hard to choose one, but I think a reunion gig after ten (eleven?) years of silence needs a wild opening. "I've got something against you" or maybe "Monkey gone to heaven" (if it goes with a psychotic "GOD IS SEVEN!!!!" shout) would be great opening songs. |

Motorway to Roswell would make a good final song after encore, methinks.
My favorite for an opener would undoubtedly be Rock Music, but I can see Debaser, Bone Machine, River Euphrates, Caribou being candidates too! |

i'd like them to start with debaser, get it over with, good opener too!
although having said that, there's bound to be tits who arrive a couple of songs into the show then start shouting debaser out for the rest of the show...

I'd go for Debaser. Fantastic opener for an album and would be the same for a gig.

I'd always wanted to hear them start off with "La La Love You" 'cause it be nice to have Dave sing off the bat. As far as I can remember of the shows I've seen live, they've started off with "Bone Machine", "Brick is Red" (which they muffed up after 20 seconds and had to start over), and "Velvety (Instrumental)". As for people who suggested "Debaser", I'd say that song is best played somewhere near mid-set and when you don't really expect it - it's one of those rare songs that can really strike up a frenzy when played live

i like COF's idea of beginning on a pitch black stage with velouria, and bring in blinding lights when the crescendo kicks in. that would be a kickass beginning...

I posted this elsewhere, but I've been directed here (thanks):
I vote for starting with a cover of "Heroin," with Kim on lead vocals. |

Cheeky? No, I meant it. She could do a lovely job of it, and it'd have conviction, wouldn't it (as Lou's version does)? Besides, it would acknowledge the positive and negative comparisons of the Pixies reunion to the Velvet's reunion, and defuse both the new and old fans demands for their personal favorites. Oh, and Kim's my "hero"ine.
Okay, so which of Frank's top 10 songs (http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5333) should they cover?
I vote for "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" |

Letter To Memphis
because of the the loud & driven guitar intro & it's a straight song, they'll have time enough for weirdness afterwards... |

you could have just said heroine, seeing as that is a female hero (not sure if the spelling is the same though!) |

It will be "Cecilia Bartoli" but should be "Velouria."
