Know how you can hear a song a handful of times, but on the third of fourth it really gets to ya? This song lays waste to my shitty week and is all I've been listening to. Note the insane near-Hendrix like tone that the lead guitar has, which I'm guessing must be someone else besides Rich playing the lead, cause well....his lead playing kinda sucks.
Raise your glass casually and steadfastly to this song immediately.
True cynics are nothing more than dissapointed idealists.
It's a very powerful earworm. I believe that this song caught my fancy this exact same week last year and I could not turn it off for anything. It was my only relief in the pre-holiday madness/dullness.
"I joined the Cult of Frank / And all I got was this lousy icon"
I fell in love with this song when I first heard it...I didn't know it was a cover. Both versions (original and FB cover) are great. What a great song.
"I joined the Cult of Clops / If I were you, I'd sleep with one eye open."
I saw this version live during the 2001 tour (May 1st in St. Louie), and it kicked the nuts out of the studio version. However, I still totally dig on the original Roxy Music version moreso.
Addendum: Bryan Ferry's solo version comes in at a distant 3rd.
