*1826: i think its just unbelievable crap
*punk rock city: i don't think it's crap, but i just don't like it
*fields of marygold: same feelings as for punk rock city
*whispering weeds: i don't understand this at all
*the black rider: ok, its a cover. nevertheless i dislike it very much on the record altough i enjoyed it live. |

The only songs which I skip are the B-sides Surf Epic and The Ballad of Johnny Horton, because of their synthetic-sound. Oh, I love Whispering Weeds. It's a nice song.

21 Reasons usually. Whispering Weeds sometimes. Skeleton Man sometimes, because it skips on me! There's a gash in my Pistolero and that's the only song that skips. I used to really dislike it, so it was never a big concern to me.

if i skip any songs, its usually: the snake, coastline, 21 reasons, whispering weeds, true blue. i've never really liked brackish boy, either.
does anyone know who the original artist of 'le cigare valont' is? frank covers it. maybe its his song? .... i dont know. |

this bar that we used to hang out at in college had The White Album in the juke box, and, for fun, we used to put in Revolution 9 like, repeatedly. as in, like, buy 2 dollars worth and select Revolution 9 for each one.
that was always fun.

| There's a bit of a gouge in my SMYT LP on "Where Will Happiness Find Me Again"...so technically I kind of skip that one. Stupid Me is not the best song either, imo. Maybe I'll have to hear it again. Sometimes when I put on Trompe le Monde, I skip the first 11 songs, but I love every track on that album. |

I never skip any FB song. I don't even skip You're Such A Wire, even though I don't like it at all, but it's only 2 minutes so why bother.

Skip buttons are evil! An entire album MUST be absorbed, especially if it's a musician you really admire! You might not be understanding the song that follows the song you skip without understanding the flow that was intended from the previous song. And skipping can affect the entire records' impact on you. It's like watching a movie and skipping scenes, or skipping sections of a book, or covering up a part of a painting. Okay, so the audience does play a role in what a work of art is, and if you choose to edit or trim the record to your liking, that's fine.

| I agree and disagree with you, Tar Tar. On the one hand of my opinion, track order of an album can really be a beautiful thing, and to ruin the track order will often hinder the listening experience. It is quite unsatisfying to get an incomplete experience; Skipping a track is comparable to cutting out eight minutes of a film. When I listen to an album, any album, for the first time, I want to listen to it all the way through. On the other hand, sometimes a particular song is awesome to hear, and I want to experience the brilliance of ONE great song. Is that the point of singles, maybe? You get one song to hear. One song to sing. You don't need to hear "Kicked in the Taco" if you want to hear "The Adventure and the Resolution". But if I want to play an album, I normally hear it in its entirety. |

I generally don't skip through songs...I listen to albums the whole way through. Sometimes I just don't want to hear a song. I really don't like people who skip through most songs on an album though..my sister does that all the time.

I disagree with TarTar and IceCream. A film or a book should be consumed in their entirity because they (usually)contain a NARRATIVE thread - skipping scenes will disrupt that thread and completely detract from what the director/author intended. This isn't at all like going to your favourite track on an album and playing it in isolation, any more than is reading your favourite poem without ploughing through a complete anthology.

There's a big difference between listening to one track and listening to an entire album. When you want to hear a certain song, you put that song on, enjoy it, and all that. When you listen to an album in it's entirety and repeatedly skip one or two songs just because it didn't strike you on intitial listens, you are not allowing that part of the work that didn't originally grasp you to help you understand the writer/performers entire vision; you are shunning a part of that person and their work, and I think to always exclude that piece is ignorant. Even if you listen 100 times and don't get it, at least you tried.

First couple of times i listen to an album in its entirety. Then, i get familiar with the songs and i plan on listening to one song. Than i see other great songs and i'm like "0h! that one! Ooh! This one's great!) This has happened to me many times. Is this off-topic? |

Or maybe I could make a movie called "gouge away" about a vinyl-loving man whose little brother (that suffers from mental retardation) takes an exacto knife and gouges all the vinyl loving-man's records. Wait a second! That's a downright genius title! Becuase the gouge symbolizes the mentally retarded brother, who is like a gouge in the life of the vinyl-loving man. And then the vinyl symbolizes the life of the vinyl-loving man, becuase his only niche, his only hobby, the only thing that gets him through an existence in this corrupted and sick-minded world, is a recollection of the past (back when he was healthy and happy and understood the spaces between friends)...through vinyl. | I always skip Blast Off. Frank was never meant to write such long songs, as demonstrated with the cumbersome All Over The World, which tend to repeat themselves and as an album opener this is the one true dog in Dog in the Sand. OK? |

depends on my mood. but if there was one song that was more regularly skipped than others it would be "the black rider" sometimes i'm in the mood of "Los Angeles" and sometimes i'm in a "Chip Away Boy" mood. for all other moods there are the Pixies =)
