It's alright on the album, I like it, but something seems missing for it to be soooo long. Perhaps if the soloing were a little more inspired, it would make the whole thing gel. That may be why it rocks so much harder live - it's got that added dynamism. I agree that Frank's voice at the beginning gets a bit grating.
This song is pure Neil Young to me, ala the "Dead Man" soundtrack (which I love).
P.S. Very true dougit, about it being a fugue. I need to listen to that whole album more. Maybe I'll change my mind...
Join the Cult of Carl / Lisening him do bass for our power ballad 'Hypocrite of the Heart' is like lisening to angels play bass. |

Love it! I quite look forward to the extended mega-jam at the end. Lately I've been looking at my watch at one point or another near the end of the song, just to see how long the rock will go on before I look again and I say to myself, Jesus, this rock has been in effect for like 3 minutes by now! (I've been at work for 14 hours and that made perfect sense to me)
I like that lemur, I lick it. That's velvety! |

It's well worth the four minute wait to get to the guitars at the end. This one and 21 Reasons are my two favorites on BLD. Well, all of the others are my favorites too.
