I was listening to the Breeders "Pod" and the "Safari EP" last night (is it dangerous to admit listening to the Breeders on this site?) and I wondered what could have been with the Pixies if they had stayed with it longer. The self-titled FB solo release and Pod/Safari have very few musical similarities that it is clear to me that they were headed in different directions. However, what if they could have held on just one or two more albums more....would Kim have written more songs? Was it just too different that it couldn't have been? Anyone else wondered this? Don't get me wrong, Pixies fans have been blessed with an abundance of unique music since their demise, however, one just wonders what could have been......... |

More songs my own little Kimmy? Not likely, looking at the track record of pixies releases. The trends was towards less and less Kim Deal goodness. It feels like she was barely even involved with TLM. Pity. They gave up the ghost at the right time, but thasnkfully spawned two great solo artists. Sorry Joey, Martinis never really caught on. But we do appreciate your trying.

A combination of The Last Splash and Frank Black's self titled solo album would have made another awesome Pixies album. It's a shame Kim got cut out of the creative input as time went on 'cos she clearly had a lot to offer in that department, as the Breeders prove. I prefer where she has gone since than Frank, but that's just my opinion. That's why I want a re-union so that Frank can get back to performing the best songs he (or most other people for that matter) has ever written again with Kim by his side.
Oh well it's just dreams I guess. |

If the Pixies would have continued, either Kim would have killed Charles or Charles would have killed Kim. With one dead and the other in prison, TOTY and DITS would have never been released. Thank God they broke up when they did. |

Hell no, they would have produced better albums than those you mentioned if they had stayed together, alive and out of prison. |

If the pixies stayed together their music probably would get old Joey said in the Mojo story that he felt like they had one more album in them. I believe that's true

I'm sure if they had kept going, Kim's voice would have been even less audible than it was on TLM, Charles wouldn't have been screaming as much, and there would have been more synthetics. Perhaps it wouldn't have been a true Pixies album, but instead a Charles album with support from the other three because of some contractual obligation...who knows. If they actually get back together (which I doubt they will), they won't be able to pick up where they left off....they've been too many different places to re-hash what once was. Oh well... |

you are evil. Frank Black self-titled is a logical follow-up to trompe (in almost every way), and frank black self-titled is awesome. I tell you what would have been shit; surfer rosa or doolitle part 2. |

Even tho The Pixixes where a "group", I don't think Frank liked the fact that Kim was starting to get more attention. The Breeders did get a bigger commercial response. I'm not saying that Frank wanted to hog the spotlight, but those songs where a reflection of him. If you've heard "Pixies: subbacultcha live! 91'" you can barely hear Kim, even when she sings Into the white.(Come to think of it, that could've been a technical malfuntion.) |

Well as a base i had cheese and ham,two ingredients that've been put together for years, loadsa history, then i had tuna and lettuce, havent really been put together before but lettuce goes with mayonnaise and im pretty sure tuna married mayonnaise.tastes fantastic at first but then the tuna and the cheese sorta clash and all u can taste is the cheese

I think Doolittle is the best one, it's also the middle one, so I don't think they were getting worse as time progressed. I also wouldn't consider Come On Pilgrim their best album, not even close.

Pixies broke up in the appropiate moment. I like Bossanova and TLM very much, really, but I think they have turned into a different band. In my opinion, Pixies dissapeared in Doolitle. This is probably because I love BF shouts and Kim's voice, and in those two albums there are few of them. :) |

If Kim had so little say musically, and the Pixies albums were mostly Black Francis, then if they'd stayed together for one more album, would that have been pretty much the Frank Black self-titled album, but with the Pixies playing it?
