We're getting close to December 1st and that can only mean one thing - time for everyone to vote on the artwork for Hey - A Pixies Tribute, the next tribute CD from members of FrankBlack.Net.
Everyone is allowed one vote, whether they participated in creating a track or not. There is one exception: Artists participating are not allowed to vote.
VOTING CLOSES MONDAY DEC 1ST
If you like a concept but have suggestions for how it might be improved prior to the final release, please feel free to post your opinions or justify your vote.
NOTES: There is probably still one more image to come, but vote anyway if one of these really strikes your fancy.
Mislead The World submitted a potential B-side cover to me which I thought might as well be included in the cover competition, since the more choices we have the better. If the other artists feel slighted by this in some way, please email me and I'll remove it.
May the best cover win!

Looks proffesional, I like the use of the Surfer Rosa, Doolittle kind of colors
And of course, it looks just much better than the others...

Hmm, this will be tough.
I like #1 alot and it almost has the same feel as the Frank Black tribute cover.
#2 is also really cool. It's got a nostalgic feel and it looks like it has a interesting story behind it. I like the Frank Black and the Catholics ticket stub attatched to the Pixies picture.
#3 is nice but I can't figure out what that picture is. A sling shot caught on a telephone pole?

I vote original 4, for some reason I like it and it has the biggest font for

2 and 3 I don't like the pictures being on there because do you really think he would want to see another picture of himself? I guess maybe, butnow in order: 4, 1, (2 and 3 or 3 and 2)

Wow...it's a tough choice between 1 and 2...I love the humor of number 1, but I also love how professional number 2 looks...hmm...
Number...umm....1 and a half?...damnit.....umm....1. Yeah, 1.

I think its gonna have to be... number 2 (sorry MCA and others).
It just looks so professional. The others are all great, and this was a tuff choice.
If I'd have entered I'd have drawn four stick men, one slightly rounder than the others, so its probably a good job I didn't.

I love Nr. 1. But I'm gonna ask you the same question as we did for the Frank tribute, AdamWest: did you do the drawing by yourself, or is it a Chris Ware picture you used? It really looks a lot like Ware or Burns drew it.
I like #4 too.

Two looks fuckin cool. Definitely 2 for me, as cheeseman said it looks the most professional by far. 1 would have been my second choice.

man that's tough! erm, my vote goes to no.1, adam west, just. my reasons are simple, much like myself, i don't think the tribute album should really have photos of the original band on, i don't know, seems a bit false to me, and out of no.1 and no.4, although both look great, no.1 looks a little neater?

I can't believe I let that slip... I completely missed that fact that the others don't have it.

I'm fairly certain he drew it from scratch, since I did see it in development stages (i.e. minus shadows, etc). Now whether it's based on something else, I don't know.
I just thought I should mention that I'm really happy with the turnout and all the artists did a great job. As was made clear by the post I just replied to, there are some tweaks to be done on all of these before the final, but this should give everyone a very close indication.
Also, I've added our remaining artist, so if you feel compelled to change your vote, please GO BACK AND EDIT YOUR POST rather than voting again, since this will produce severe migraines when tabulating. Or, at the very least, specify that you're changing your vote, and what from.

Well congrats AdamWest, then, it's a great picture.
#5 is very cool too, though I don't really love the font used for the "Hey". I'm still voting for #1.

That's a tough one... I think they all look great...
I vote for No.1 because it's the less Vaughan Oliver-ish. I like the idea of doing something radically different from the original Pixies artwork.

Nr 4 gets my vote. Love the fact that you have to give it a second look to work out what's in the picture. Nice to have a sci-fi reference in there. The out of focus effect is cool.
Slightly surprised that a lot of you have voted for nr. 2. I agree that it is very professional looking and beautifully arranged and photographed/montaged. But, it is a bit too conventional for me and the pixies were certainly not conventional.
Nrs. 1 and 5 also very good but someone has to win.
Congrats to all contributors. High quality stuff.

Too bad the competition is between n°1 and n°2.
If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose n°2 because I really don't like n°1 (though I liked the fb tribute one).
But Miguel's (n°5) is my fave. |

I vote for number 2.
Number 1 is good, but more in the stylistic vein of solo Frank where as number 2 is much more pixie-esque. I only wish the FB&C ticket stub wasn't in there. It doesn't make sense.

I'm gonna go ahead and vote for number 2.
While it is a little odd to have a picture of the Pixies on a tribute to them, the picture only takes up 18% of the cover and it's sideways anyway; It isn't the focus of the cover. To me, the picture belongs to an admirer of the Pixies and he just left it on his attic floor along with his guitar.
The Frank Black and the Catholics ticket stub may not make much sense, but it's so subtle that I don't mind it.

It's beautiful. I love it...the only thing I don't love is the text of "Hey", but other than that it looks fantastic.
