I have Czar - 1993 boot, good enough quality, very similar set to 'No Big Deal'. If the Fu Manchu one is from 2003 then I have a copy of that aswell. Don't waste your money - mail me and we can trade instead.
My problem with these, (although I buy them sometimes), is that they cash in on the profit free trading that the real fans do on the net - bastards!

the picture of frank used on the 'fu manchu' (obvious) bootleg looks to be of a more recent vintage yet when was the last time that song was performed? -as a guess i would say MAYBE on the first catholics tour when they came thru chicago.. and honestly i can't remember if they did that song or not -on the tour earlier this year i know they didn't. -frank played the vic theatre in chicago back around '96 or -'97 maybe from that gig thereabouts. -the key would be when and where (in chi.) did he perform that song (isn't there a database spmewhere by 'fbtaper' of gigs over the years?) and if it was at metro than it might sound good as that place offered up a pretty good sounding pixies boot from years before.

Here's my question: why is selling that bad? I mean if you're pricing them decently who cares? I don't have a problem with trading but I do have a problem with people who'll only trade. It becomes elitist. You have to have something to get something and getting something that no one has is often very difficult. I've never understood the "no seeling" thing unless the boot is really overpriced.
Obviously trading is better but I'm not going to resist buying something if I feel it's really worth it.

I have both CDs - "Czar" and "Fu Manchu in Chicago". Both CDs have the identical content ! The setlist for both is the same. In both cases it is a FB concert in Chicago, USA, 1993.

thanks for helping out.
realmeanmotorcutor why do you think that trading is elitist?i think that it's more democratic 'cause everybody can have access to hard to find stuff.not everybody can afford 30-40$ cd's plus it's impossible to find most of the bootlegs.if in this you add that people like me live in sad little towns(the Only record store here doesn't have any frank black cds,and only death to the pixies from pixies stuff)you will have to agree that trading or b&p are not only the best but the only way to have something rare.one last thing.i'm more than willing to pay for something i want but selling bootlegs is kind of lame.first because the artist doesn't get a cent second because i don't like people who make money on other people's passion (i don't think that 25$ is fair since a blank cd costs 50 cents or even less)and last but not least many times the quality of the recording is that of an amateur tape and does not justify the price. for what i care i have put all fb.net members on my slsk list and they can dl all the stuff they want, without trades.it's just files and everybody really interested should be free to have them.

I totally understand you points mun and I don't disagree. Trading is good when it can be done but it can be elitist for just the reasons I've already noted. Also, artists don't make any money off tradinf or selling of used cds either. $25 dollars is too much but people have the right to sell whatever they want and for however much they want.
What is b&p?
what is thie slsk list you speak of?

Well actually there are laws against it. Though some countries are lax about it. Lots of bootleg labels are based in Italy because of the laws there. The two CDs mentioned at the top of this thread are being sold out of Belgium. |

These two items turn up on e-bay fairly regularly. Personally, I wouldn't bother with them. |

true in italy they used to made a lot of bootlegs but the law is changed and now you risc 15000 euros of fine and up to 4 years of jail for selling copywrited material.the best italian bootleg record company KTS was shut down some years ago though the guys running it claimed they had agreements with the groups involved (actually they had a bank account where they put 10% of their profits and a group was supposed to go and claim it).though trading is illegal too it's a whole different concept (in terms of law) doing it without profit and puting up a cdr selling business.you can get a fine for trading but you go to jail for selling.
ps1 b&p stands for blank and post:when you can't trade you send someone the blank cdrs and the post expenses ps2 slsk is soulseek a p2p program where you can share files (mostly mp3)without all the post trouble.the list is a function that permits the users that are in it to download from you automatically and without having to cue.

I'd say its the June 8 1993 gig - pretty much the best quality FB gig you can get. I've never bought any commercial FB bootlegs but i did have about 25 factory pressed SP bootlegs once that would have cost me around $400US to get over time - considering how much i listened to them it was value for money.

I started a thread in trading called "please help me" i am willing to pay for postage and send blank cd-rs, but i only have NIRVANA, REM, SLOPPY MEATEATERS, BAD RELIGION and NOFX bootlegs to trade. i made a short list of what i have in that thread. PLEASE if anyone will help me i would appreciate it greatly thank you, dalton |
