So, we all know that, until recently, Johnny Cash was the coolest person to walk on the face of the earth. So, who is his succesor?
I'm tempted to say Iggy, or maybe Keef.
Apparently Spin magazine recently voted Jack White as no.1, and the Strokes as no.s 2-5...
What are your suggestions?
Also, be original, we know everybody here likes Frank Black...

Hmmm...people I think are cool. It's getting harder these days with the influx of Britney's and Christina's but I know there are cool people out there! I just know it!
Some that popped into my head:
John C. Reily
Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Benecio DelToro
Bill Murray (with the whole Lost In Translation/Wes Anderson thing - but I also think he's always been pretty cool)
Tim Robbins
Okay, I am stuck on male actors for some reason.
Some women I dig are:
Kate Winslet (aside from the Titanic thing, cause, ew. But did y'all see JUDE? Such a sad movie, but she rocks in it)
Marilyn Monroe...well, she's dead, but when I see a picture of her I just can't stop looking at it. She was cool, IMHO.
I agree about Iggy and I will probably get shit for it but I think Bruce Springsteen is a cool guy. At least he speaks his mind in this politically correct age.
I need to keep thinking about it cause I know there are more than these...

after serious consideration i think that the coolest living persons on the world are :
the writer Tom Robbins and
Frank's brother Errol Thompson.

PJ Harvey must be the coolest women, especially when compared to horrid little strupets like Chiristina Aguliria (sp?).
I jusy love the way that she totally in control and doesn't have to prostitute herself to sell records. She can be an attractive women and a sexy women without being conventionally good looking or dressing like a whore.
Kim Deal would have to be joint coolest women with PJ.
Frank Black is certainly cool and could be a contender if the world had any taste. Thurston Moore, Lou Barlow and Wayne Coyne are also up their in my opinion.
I think it would be mistake top give the title to a newcomer. I think to be truly cool a past musical historyand longevity is a must. |

I forgot the Coen brothers. And Steve Buscemi. And George Clooney, for all his foibles, the man is cool. Edward Norton? Harvey Keitel? Michael Madsen?

Hunter S is definately a good choice, although I must rail against any actors or actresses for that kind of admiration.
